Hello we are travelling with our almost three year old from the UK and are planning on using the mears airport shuttle. I've been told we will need a car seat which is fine. my dilemma is what do we do for hotel shuttles to the attractions? do we need to take our own car seat if so what on earth do we do with the seat all day?

I have been wondering much of the same so hope someone has some good answers about car seats for us. We are doing Magical Express and we are not bringing a car seat with us so not sure how that works.

There were many small children on the DME with us in September , none of which were in car seats. Also they are not required on busses to and from your resort to theme parks.

From the Mears FAQ:

Q: Do shuttles have car seats? Can I bring my own?
A:The shuttles do not have car seats. You are encouraged to bring your personal car seat.
"Encouraged" is not the same as "required". I don't know what Florida law requires for other than buses, but on DME they tell you that the car seat will be stored under the bus as it's not allowed on the bus.

You won't need it for Disney transportation. I don't know about other shuttle busses. I'd be surprised if any bus required it, but don't know.

I would definitely use the car seat on the shuttle if it's a passenger van. Most states have laws mandating that children be in the proper car seats or boosters in these kinds of passenger vans. NHTSA issued reports a few years ago about the serious safety risks with these vans, so a lot of states classified them like cars- i.e. the same carseat and booster laws apply to the van.

The true buses are a different story. As previously noted, you will not be permitted to use a carseat on DME. I don't know if this has come up with the regular Disney transport buses for the parks, but most cities use this style bus and most cities prohibit the use of carseats on such buses. Most of these buses aren't really equipped to accomodate a carseat anyways.
