It's wonderful! We go every trip it's our last night dinner tradition. We were there Nov 2011 and the food was wonderful, wasn't thrilled about our seat (we prefer booths) but the food was well attended too, fresh and the service was amazing. The cm checking us in the college program and studying special needs so I was telling her about my son and during our dinner she came over to talk to him and was so awesome. The chef came out personally to speak with us as all Sammy wanted was french fries and wanted to make sure there was nothing else he could do and boy did they give my boy fries it was the hugest plate! Salads were amazing everything you could think of. Funny enough not a huge dessert selection but honestly we couldn't have touched it we were so full.

Hey! No problem.Crab is good with me.Tho in your side of the pond, there's so many varieties of crab,Alaskian,Snow, etc, but at that price for the buffet,it's a pinch.( pun intended )

We went on this last trip and I thought it was good. My only issue was the service seemed a bit off. The plates didn't get pulled away very quick and it seemed like they were trying to rush us out. Seeing as I am a big seafood guy and the rest of the family is not, I really don't think we will go back anytime soon. It was just way to expensive for the non seafood eaters. It was not the best seafood I have had at Disney but was well worth doing once.

Hi Folks.Just a quick question.Has anybody had the above buffet at the Beach Resort. The menu looks awesome with Shrimps,Clams,Mussels,Ribs, etc, and for only 1 DDP credit, sounds too good to be true.:)

I ate there once, and while I don't like to rate a place based on one visit - I am tempted to do so in this case.

Almost everything was wrong - service and food.

Now, while I do enjoy good food, and will glady sit and debate the merits of one cut of beef over another or the nuances between two wines, I also have a cast iron stomach and will eat just about anything. Throw a can of tuna in some cold leftover rice and add some oil and vinegar - thats dinner (I have done that more than once when in a rush).

So when I say the food in this place was downright bad, almost to the point of not wanting to eat it - that should tell you something.

I wrote a review on it, I'll see if I can find a link to it.

As I said, it was one time for me, and others seem to love it, so maybe it was an off night (a really really really off night) but I am leery about going back even after just one time.

I found my review - copied here for your reading pleasure :)

From this original thread

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/marathon-food-report.684443/#post-4413008

I ate there Jan 9, 2011 after the marathon and thought it was by far the worst meal I have ever had in easily over 50 table service dinners I have had at WDW.

For you reading pleasure, it is reproduced below.

I had thought long about where to eat post marathon. I was going to expend 3,500+ calories running that morning - I needed a buffet in order not to go broke. A combination of places that were booked and places I did not want to eat at steered me to Cape May Cafe

Adult Dinner - $32.99
Blue Moon Beer - $5.75

This is now officially, in my book, the worst place to eat in WDW. When I entered the hostess gave me a rundown of the place, part of which was "of course over here is our dessert bar, which is the best part" that should have been a tip off from square one. My server disappeared for long stretches of time. When I ordered a beer, she took my water away. I then drank the beer, but she was nowhere to be found to either order another one or to get water.

Crab legs were ok, but nothing to write home about

Peel and eat shrimp - I understand the peel your own concept. Saves on costs and prevents patrons from gorging themselves. But could you at least de-vein them? Me, I eat anything, and have no problems ingesting a shrimps p00p-pipe, but really, any restaurant that serves shrimp with the veins still in needs to question its operation.

Overcooked rubbery PEI mussels that were the smallest I have ever seen, and tasted nothing like any PEI mussel I have ever had.

The fish was harder and drier than the table I was sitting at.

Clams have sand. I understand that. These had more sand than clam. I think I ground the enamel off my teeth. They are also NOT steamers, they are hard shell clams. There is a difference.

The ribs were just like my mother used to make when I was a kid. My mom made horrible ribs. You had to wrestle the meat off the bone.

Some highlights - the mashed potatoes were very good. - OK thats about it.

Then moving on to dessert - remember this is the best part. Utter dreck. Overly sweet, clearly pre-frozen and defrosted, some still with ice crystals. Items that had a crust were sogged out.

I ate a load of food because I was hungry, but really, it was not a place I want to ever go to again.

Wow,Sorry to hear about your experience but yes,it does happen. We were less than impressed with Le Cellier on our one and only visit. So that experience will go down as a bad night for us and the restaurant as no way will we return.

We have probably been there for dinner 4 times and, while we have enjoyed each visit, I preferred the food choices pre-refurb. They dropped a few of my favorite items, both on the hot bar and on the dessert bar. It won't stop us from going back but you tend to make a mental note of these things. I would defenitely give it a try.

been there a few times. i was a bit disappointed after our summer trip (not because of the food, but several in our party were 45 minutes late!!!!!). just put me in a bad mood. It was the second day after it reopened this past August and it was super busy. i always say i go to WDW to be stress-free. I dont need aggravation when I'm there. Cant wait to go and try it again with just us!o_O

Well my wife and I ate there last week and it was delicious. Sometimes it just takes a bit of looking around and knowledge of how the place works to make it even better. First of all you want to watch the center preparation island for the steam hoods to go up, that signals that you need to make your way to the bar for crab legs just as they come out before they have time to sit and become squishy. The second is knowing where to look for shrimp. Yes there is peel and eat shrimp on the sides, but if you look closely on the Salad bar at the front, they are already peeled there. The antipasto is wonderful (marinated mushrooms and olives) as are the soups (typically clam chowder with lots of clams or a tomato bisque with sherry). I don't know if you like cornbread, but if you do you could make a meal of it alone. Baked deserts at least compared to Thanksgiving week last year have decreased in number.. they once had their own cart but now are beside the kids macaroni and cheese. The cold options are still quite good.

We need time for things to happen.
Hey hatter - cape may Used to be our first night tradition, but eventually fell off due to our other tradition of adding a new restaurant every year - while not dropping Ohana, garden grill and now at least one signature.......anyway.
My point is my daughter and i love seafood and it never disappointed - my wife and son do not like seafood and always enjoyed themselves.
I have since seen bad reviews and havent had the gumption to return....however based on our previous experiences we do miss it and would suggest trying it at least once.

Wow it took me a long time to just say that.....sorry.

We love the breakfast the characters are fantastic and we go every time, we have done the dinner once we had a bit of a misery for a server but hey it was a buffet so that didn't bother us. DH & DS love seafood, I don't but this was their choice and I didn't go hungry.
What did bother us was the amount of food people were piling on their plates, maybe it is just us, we got a couple of things ate them then went back, but it just seemed like a buffet of Gluttony, People were completely emptying the trays so others then had a wait while it was restocked then the next person would do the same. One gentleman had his plate piled up and it must have been about 20 cms high with just shrimp I watched in amazement as I couldn't believe it was staying on the plate and it wasn't his only trip.
We tried it, I doubt we will do it again it is good if you love seafood and want a chance to try all the different types then go. As we do the DDDP for 14 nights, even through is only 1 credit, we don't think it is worth it for us. So many places to try and not enough time. But to not like some you have to try it, so Hatter give it a whirl. TTFN Jo

Great if you are on the dining plan. Way too expensive if paying. $39.99 for adults. I like to sample. Not a seafood lover. No way can I eat 40 bucks worth of food.
