Can't book two rooms on same reservation

I just booked two rooms at pop and they couldn't do both rooms on the same reservation. Had to make two reservations then link them as a group. Then they couldn't guarantee that they would even be near each. Is that crazy?

We had to do that a little while ago (had two reservations because the inlaws came and needed their own room). We just noted it on both reservations and I called about a week before to make sure it was noted, and when we checked in, I mentioned it again. They were able to give us connecting rooms

Crazy or not, it's been Disney policy for as long as I've known. They will do their best to assure you get rooms near each other if you follow the instructions at online checkin time to request nearby rooms. Once my group requested nearby rooms and we weren't even given rooms in the same building; we went to the front desk after receiving the room ready texts and asked (nicely!) to be relocated and they were happy to help and we even got adjoining rooms! They can't guarantee because once in awhile due to occupancy, maintenance, emergencies, etc., they can't provide connecting/nearby rooms, but they'll do their best!

we get two rooms every year and we always have to do the separate reservations. Every year, however, we have no real issues linking them and we always request connected, adjoining rooms and we always get them without an issue at all. I think you will be ok with them being together unless you have other specific requests that need to be filled with them...like 2 handicap accessible rooms etc.

That's the ways it's been for a long time at Disney. Request for connecting rooms are treated differently it seems (pretty much guaranteed at some resorts that allow it) but the whole not guaranteeing room location has been that way elsewhere for a long time.

It has been this way for years. It takes two rooms for our family (or three at a value) but they don't have a way of putting all the rooms in my name even though I am paying for all of them. I can understand why they would want to list who is in which rooms but can't understand why they make you have separate reservations for each room. Maybe that will change with the system upgrade

It's a systems programming issue. When you have one reservation number mapped to one room, things are really easy, for magic band room entry, billing to the room, etc. If you had to map one reservation number to multiple rooms, things could get messy, not impossible, but messy.

I believe the Disney IT department would find it to be more of a challenge than they would want.

When we were supposed to go in May, I had one reservation with two royal rooms at POR as part of a package. They also gave guaranteed connecting rooms, as we were all one immediate family.

It can absolutely be done and they had no trouble, but not all CMs have permissions to be ABLE to book like that. Maybe ask for a supervisor. It can absolutely be done.

Connecting rooms are never guaranteed no matter what they told you. It even says that when you make reservations on Disney's site, connecting rooms are a request only. I'm sure they do their best, but it is never guaranteed. Families do get split up, with an adult in each room.

You can't truly book connecting rooms as they have no idea what their room inventory of them will be when you check in. Rooms are only pre-assigned a few days out. If they have them the will give them to you, but they don't know ahead of that.

Interesting. Considering I spoke with several cast members about it, one of which was actually a manager over reservations due to an issue I'd had (which was unrelated to the connecting rooms thing, but I'd heard the same things you had), and all told me that connecting rooms COULD be guaranteed in specific circumstances. Those circumstances were that the rooms were both for ONE family, meaning two parents and one or more children. They said in other instances where extended family, such as grandparents, were involved, they would not, in fact, guarantee the connecting rooms.

Guess even the manager over reservations doesn't know what she's talking about.

They will tell you that. But they are not the ones who assign rooms. They can't guarantee you connecting rooms in all honesty, because they have no idea if there will be any in inventory to give you. They don't block out your rooms when you book them.

I think the odds are very much in your favor. But there have been posters on other Disney sites who even had Guaranteed Connecting on their reservations but did not get them. Unless whatever manager you talked to can see into the future, they are way overstepping when they tell you they can guarantee you anything. They can't. And it is very wrong that they tell people that when it can cause all sorts of problems.

Per the Terms and Conditions when you book on the Disney Web site:

"Adjacent rooms, CONNECTING ROOMS (emphasis mine) or specific room location and type of rooms or bedding are on a request only basis and are subject to availability at time of check in".

They don't know in advance how many connecting rooms will be available when any of us go to check in. So they can't truly guarantee them ahead of time.

Honestly I have always been told they are not guaranteed. Granted in may resorts it's a very high chance, but I was told it wasn't 100% sure. More like 99.9% Last time I booked I had to have one adult in each room.
