Can't Book 2019 Yet... Why?

So I know it's pretty standard and rates should be out any day now, but I currently can't book anything at a Disneyland hotel for my February 2019 trip. Does anyone know why Disney does this? January 2019 is only five months away at this point, and people are looking to book flights and whatnot. What does Disney gain by locking future year inventory this way?

Disneyland Resort likes to punish out of towners any chance they can get. Personally, I think they enjoy it.

Me thinks they haven't decided how high they are going to go with pricing due to SWL opening next year. We'll all be taking out loans!

Disneyland has been primarily a locals resort, mostly west coasters who don't plan more than a couple months in advance.

If you really want to check on rates and booking, call instead of trying to do it online.

Travel agents were just told today:

"The 2019 Walt Disney Travel Company vacation packages for Disneyland Resort are now available to book by phone. Online bookings will be available soon.Stay tuned for details.Please note these packages will be valid for arrivals Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2019. Please note the last date of your Client’s vacation cannot be booked more than 499 days in the future."
