I actually met him a few months ago when he was down in Florida..and yeah..he's nice but a lot of his influence comes from whos giving him free stuff. He was all "omg nikon!;..and now he's all about "canon" whom he always referred to as the dark side.

Regardless..back on topic..you don't need a specific Canon forum...DSLR terms are generally pretty much the same across the board..so ANY photo forum/blog will suit you juuuuust fine.

that's how all photography / golf forums work... they start with pure intentions but then the money comes in from the manufacturers and it sucks

dpreview.com looks good too. Some people say that forum isn't user friendly, but I don't think there's a forum on earth that doesn't have it's 's, commandos and megalomaniacs....Sometimes those guys that are jerks to newbies are very good at what they do and know their craft. They're just sick of answering the same questions 100 times a month.

I would recommend not worrying about what's newbie friendly or not....and just finding the forum with the highest population of pros and seasoned amateurs....and LURK. There's *so* much you can learn from these guys by just watching the conversations. Then when you gain a level of comfort, test out the water with a question.

It's going to far more useful to you, as a new dslr shooter, than going to a forum where everyone is too nice and praiseful of everything. You wont see/get constructive advice or criticism. You could post a picture that looks like was composed by a guy on three different barbiturates, that's out of focus and has color problems galore.....and these types of forums, people will go "Great job, keep it up!" That sorta business does you no good.

That too! I am actually impressed with how eager everyone here is to help photographers....considering this isn't technically a photography site..lol
It's probably better that way... you know the only people who step up and help know what they are talking about.

Doesn't matter which brand you shoot... photography is photography.

Brands only matter when you have a specific question about the placement of a button or item located in a menu.
