My uncle is letting us take his Canon EOS 1000D to WDW in a couple of days, as somebody who is relatively new to DSLRs, is there anything I can read/watch etc to help me get a better understanding of the camera?
The only other thing I can toss into this would be get plenty time with the body BEFORE your trip getting familiar with the camera (where the buttons are, where the knobs are..what do they all do etc)...you don't want to be trying to find them while on your trip
Depending on how much you know about photography, you are probably better off leaving it in Auto mode for the most part. You will still get better results in Auto mode with a DLSR than you would with a point and shoot. Better to have the images turn out decent than not at all. I'm not too familiar with the 1000D but if it has scene modes try those out too.
