Has anyone been to the Candlelight Processional before? I was wondering what the lighting was like. Obviously it's at night so I expect it's dark, but how dark?

I'd like to strap a nice dark ND filter and blast a 3 minute exposure to see how that would come out!

We only did it once and that was quite a while back... but as I recall it wasn't dark ride dark, It was more like what you would expect in a concert setting. I'm guessing the biggest issue you will have will be whether your camera has the dynamic range to get the details in the shadows and not blow out the brights spots. Would suggest you use spot metering or go manual, otherwise your camera may not give you the results you want.

It ended up not being quite as dark as I imagined it would be. I contemplated renting a 70-200 but ultimately didn't and used my 70-300 instead. The extra zoom was nice but nowhere near as fast as I could've shot with a 70-200. I think at the brightest part of the show I was shooting at 1/125 so they aren't perfectly sharp but decent enough.
