What's the best time to see the Candlelight Processional? I'm going to be arriving on Dec. 19, so I'm going to get to see someone that I REALLY want to (Marlee Matlin), but I want a good seat to be able to film it. How soon after one show starts should I wait in line for the next show?

During the most busy time of Year, the Christmas Week, my fmaily has arrived 70 minuts before the showing of our choice and have always gotten a seat. We get in line and send somebody out to get food from around the World. Line saving for this is perfectly legal as all CMs working the line clearly have said.

The first show is not fully dark enough to experience the lighting and the decorations. Aim for the second or third performance!

But what if it's just me? Should I pack some snacks? Filming Marlee Matlin is really important to me (read another post I made about the Processional), and both of my American Sign Language professors want DVD copies.

Where would you recommend I try to sit?

Probably towards the side that has the interpreter (right side if i recall)....

I'm assuming you have the package.... You'll want to get there insanely early. I was in line at 7 for the 8:15 show a while back and was in the Middle of Japan. So if you wanna be first in line... try 6:30 for the 8:15 show. Or right after they load the previous show.

If you dont have the package, ummm... not sure what all to say on that one, other than to make the best of it and get there BEYOND early.

See, here's the thing.

1) I'm a seasonal CM that's saving up to pay her parents back for her new laptop. I can't afford the dinner package.

2) Interpreter? You do realize that the interpretation is going to be in spoken English, right? I'm just clarifying, because it sounds kind of funny to me that anyone would need an American Sign Language interpreter for a Deaf actress...

Okay Radford :p I know your situation, i just wasnt clear with the way i asked....

What i would do if i were you is to do what Me & my friend did for the beach boys. Go there, stand in line for an earlier show (like 530) and when you get to the front of the line, wait through the whole show and be first in line for the next show (like 7 or whenever it is).
Yes its standing around a lot and almost a waste of an afternoon, but you get what you want and you get your shot/video.... And you can call your friends and have them bring you food and drink.

As for video.... 2nd or 3rd row should be good. I knew Marlee Maitlyn was deaf, but i also know she can speak. To get the podium, id try and get as close to dead center as possible, but from the right.

PS .... love the avatar :D

Agree with Dave. Get in line for an earlier show to be first in line for the next. Also, don't forget that this show is also going to last longer than you're going to want to hold the camera, so if you can get your hands on a even a small tripod, you will thank yourself later.

Actually I got to see Marlee Matlin last year. She signs the narration while her "voice" stands behind her and speaks. But the WDW provided sign interpreter is also there and signs as well. It is so expressive and beautiful, much more than just someone standing up doing basic sign.

Cool! I figure that having this DVD will help me out when I'm a teacher for the deaf during the holiday season. And it will help me with my signing skills (teach me new signs)

Yeah, if you are going to be a teacher for the Deaf you can't miss Marlee Matlin. I was a little skeptical when I heard she would be the narrator the night I was there, but it was phenomenal! Even though her interpreter is a man and you hear "his" voice speaking her words, it's still her doing the narration. It was the high point of my Christmas season last year.

As far as which show...I like the middle show. I just can't do this show when it's still light out, and since we go with kids, the last show is just too late.

Robyn did you get it taped? It was beautiful. I saw it with Brian interpreting and Marlee Matlin and Jack Jason voicing.
What ITP are you in. I went to Miami Dade College

Sorry for the late response. I did get it taped- I just need to make it into a CD for my teacher (note: if anyone can tell me the easiest way to post it online, I'll happily do it!). My official degree title is Special Education with a concentration in Communication and Speech Disorders. We just all call it IDHH or Deaf Ed. If you look at where I'm from...that's my school :animwink:
