Candle Light Prossional

I don't know if this is true or not but maybe someone out there can set this straight. I heard that they cut the candle light stuff in half and the high school groups are only allowed to preform 3 times due to bugject cuts. Also are they still giving the free stuff to the people with priority seating? What i'm reading in the Mickey Monitor all you get is 15% of the store stuff. :animwink:

They are still touting the Candlelight Processional as the centerpiece of the Epcot Christmas celebration on the Disney web pages. I have however heard that several chiors cancelled their trips because of the fear factor. I just don't understand.

We're one of those choirs that cancelled, unfortunately. Our understanding was that the earliest show each day had been eliminated, but the two late shows remained.
It really stinks, cause we just leaned that Gary Sinise would have been our narrator. Dang it!
There may yet be further cuts, because our booking agency says lots of out-of-town high schools have been pulling out. Hopefully the local kids will be willing to work overtime.

The dates that we are preforming are Dec 12/13. Where do you go to find out who is the narrators? My group really would love to find out. Last year we had Robert Urich (s/p) My parents loved him since they knew who he was. The only thing I knew about the guy was that he married one of the girls from the movie..."Sound of music"

Hey guys! I JUST discovered this site and I LOVE it! I was just in Disney for Candlelight 2001 last week...and guess who our narrator was...yep..none other than THE Wayne Brady! The man can sing...anyways, he was nice enough to come into the rehearsal tent and sing us a song both nights (unlike someone last year *cough*angela basset*cough*)...one was about the highschools (Go Northeast!) :sohappy: and the other was about peanut butter & jelly...you could tell he really appreciated guest speaking there and he loved it...

We performed 4 shows total...it's the same every year...2 shows one night, 2 shows another night...it's killer on the feet :( This is my senior year and it was also my last time singing at candlelight ..aah, the memories ...if anyone's reading this who can pull some strings at Disney and they need some tenors for next year's candlelight, email me ;) heheh...just wanted to give my little point of view....great site, btw..thanks for listening :)

Viper, welcome to the family! Lucky you!! Performing Candlelight Processional!

I used to work crowd control there in 98 and 99. I knew the show by heart and loved it! The last time I saw it was before I left to come back home, with my bf.... it was awesome... we both cried... I have been playing the CD everyday at my office for the past week...!

I have to make a recognition to the lady who does the sign language! the chubby one.... I can´t remember her name now... I think I heard that her daughter does it too somedays, but she really steals the show! She is soooo good! *when they saw the star, they rejoiced with great joy*:sohappy:

Here is a slightly updated schedule of narrators. Wonder how much Lt. Dan is getting paid to do six days, including Christmas Eve and Day? Maybe that's his punishment for "Mission to Mars."

11/23/01 - 11/26/01 James Avery
11/27/01 - 11/29/01 Marlee Matlin ( she will be
signing and there will be a narrator with her,
someone who is with her on West Wing )
11/30/01 - 12/02/01 TBA
12/03/01 - 12/05/01 Wayne Brady
12/06/01 - 12/08/01 Phylicia Rashad
12/09/01 - 12/11/01 Story Musgrave
12/12/01 - 12/14/01 TBA
12/15/01 - 12/17/01 Alfre Woodard
12/18/01 - 12/20/01 Blair Underwood
12/21/01 - 12/26/01 Gary Sinese
12/27/01 - 12/29/01 LeVar Burton

I believe the one you are speaking of is Angela. Is a very skilled interpreter. Absolutely incredible. What she does with the music is phenominal. I have also seen Tara interpret. Also very good. Being hard of hearing and an interpreting student I really enjoy the interpreters Disney provides. I haven't seen a bad one yet.
Aside from Angela my favorite is Vince. He has the most incredible facial expressions. When he does Pluto he looks like Pluto. Awesome.

I loved seeing Marlee Matlin narrate this year as well as Gary Sinese. This year I want to see LaVAr Burton if he does it again.

Even though I graduated two years ago, I went back with my high school to Candlelight last year. I would have gone again this year but they didn't get accepted! Would have been my 5th year doing Candlelight. Fort Meade High School, one of Disney's biggest local "anchor" choirs in the past, wasn't accepted either. From what I understand, Disney focused more on out-of-state choirs this year. :(

There were other cutbacks too. Only two shows on Monday through Wednesday and instead of sign translation at every show it was only offered on Tuesdays and Fridays (Or Monday/Thursday, can't remember which). Makes me wonder what other cuts took place behind the scenes that I didn't get to see.

There's always next year... :D
