Cancelling Magical Express last minute....

Is there any fee/penalty for canceling your Magical Express reservation literally at the last minute???

we have a relative flying in... the rest of us are driving... if we make it there in time we are going to pick her up at the airport... but I also have her making a ME reservation (just shuttle, no luggage) in case something unexpected happens and we aren't able to be there in time.

I searched around the disney FAQ's and other sites and didn't come across anything about cancellations.

Thanks!

The yellow Magical Express tag does not come from the airline, it comes from Disney and she would receive it with her Magical Express information.

Yours is a common mis-conception about DME.

"Participating Airlines" only factor into your *return* to the airport when you're leaving. (And even then, it only applies to whether or not you can check your luggage and get your boarding pass at the hotel.)

On your arrival, baggage from *ALL* airlines that fly into MCO is screened for the yellow tags. Anything with a yellow tag is routed to the Disney luggage processing center. Doesn't matter if it's Mega-Legacy Airline or Puddle-Jumper Airways, if you're arriving at MCO and it has a yellow DME tag, it'll go to the Disney luggage sorting center. (You then have to board a DME bus before they'll release your bags from the sorting facility to be transported to your resort)

I don't want to muck up anything by asking this question.... BUT, what if the person was to use ME on the way back to the airport? Is there something that says you must use it both ways? Or if you don't use it flying in you can't use it flying home?

Nope. Lots of people use DME for one way.

I have chosen not to use DME last minute lots of times. My best friend lives in Kissimmee and if he isn't working then he will pick me up but if he is then I take the DME. Same for going back to the airport. You don't have to "cancel" you just don't check in for the DME. And like someone else said, just don't put the yellow tags on your luggage and pick it up yourself in case someone picks you up. :)
