Cancellation and refund of vacation package question

I had already booked and paid completely for a vacation package in February that I recently had to cancel:cry: My husband is Army and we just found out he would be gone the whole month of February for training before deploying in May. My question is....How long does it usually take for the refund to be credited back to your account? I paid it all with my debit card not credit card if that makes a difference. At first the man I talked with said one to two billing cycles, but isn't that an awful long time? I'm hoping that I'll be able to reschedule as soon as we find out the times for his block leave, but I was hoping to have the refund before then so that I could just use it to rebook.
I'd appreciate any info/help you may have.
Thanks!

We have found in the past it takes just a few days. Remember, Disney is big on under promising and over delivering on many things.

"It will take 10-14 business days to process your refund, however it may take up to 2 billing cycles to appear on a printed statement. You will recieve a letter of cancellation in about 1 week."

Unofficially...

The credit will nearly always be processed within 1 business day on Disney's end, but the credit card bank may take up to 2 week to post that credit to your account, hence the reason of the above official spiel.

Keep checking though. Disney overcharged my debit card by over $300. It was to be put back into my account (was told 5 days once, then 7-10 days the next), but never was. I finally told them to keep it (it was the amount of my payoff).

First of all I'd like to thank you Ms. Tinkerbell and your husband for his service to our country. The job he will do and your support of him is what keeps this country free so families like mine are able to visit WDW without fear. God be with you always and bring him back home safe !

And on a similar thread I'd like to know if your refund is covered by trip cancellation insurance that may have been purchased as part of the package ? Does Disney offer any refunds without the insurance and what might the restrictions be ?

My past 2 trips in 2004 and 2005 as well as the upcoming trip I've paid the extra $119 through Disney Travel for the insurance. I'm just wondering if it is absolutely neccesary for a refund if the trip is cancelled. My wife is a dialysis patient and there is always an outside chance and risk for us of having to cancel at the last minute as a result of health complications.

Any info and comments will be appreciated on the subject.

And good luck on rescheduling your trip. I hope it's sucessful for you and you guys have a great trip later.

Thank you all so much! I appreciate all the responses and will just check my account in a few days and see if it's there.

Thank you so much! That's very thoughtful of you to say and nice to hear.
I'm not sure about how the refund would be without the insurance even though we hadn't purchased it yet. It was still early enough for us. I was still debating about adding it on, but we weren't into our 45 days before trip yet, so we were able to get a full refund. I don't really know too much about the insurance, but if it would save me a bigger portion of the amount paid compared to the cancellation fee, I would probably go with it, especially when there is an added chance of having to cancel closer to the dates of the trip. I'm sure I'll add it in when I reschedule to help cover any more change in dates that my come my husbands way.
I wish your wife the best! and I hope you all enjoy your next trip to WDW
