Cancel or Edit Reservations????

Hi friends, can anyone help? I'm going to Disney this winter and am about to make ADR's. My family often changes their opinion or can't decide what they want to do and our ADR's usually suffer. In the past we plan a trip, book ADR's and then a month later, more people decide to come or drop out and we have to change our reservations. In the past, we would cancel our reservations and then make new ones to accommodate the change (I know- too nice). But, I'm hearing online you can now edit your ADR's. Is this true? Is it simple? Are you always available to keep your ADR and edit the number of your party? I want to book ADR's for my family and friends (our party) but I'm curious if we can edit them easily with the ever-changing minds of my family? Thank you so much for any help you can offer!!!!! =)

It still based on availability at the time you're trying to make a change. The new function just eliminates the need of canceling a ressie and creating a whole new one if what you want is available. It in no way, makes availability better, etc. It just lets it be done in one function if it IS available. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you! So if go to edit and my new time or new party size will not work, my old reservation won't get canceled, correct? Until I hit submit or something like that?

Correct.

Another option is to make your reservations with the larger number of people and then edit it down to a smaller group later, or just show up at the reservation with fewer people than are listed on the reservation. As long as *someone* shows up for the reservation you won't get charged any kind of cancellation fee. (The only exceptions being pre-pay restaurants and dinner shows)

Thank you. But don't you now get charged a fee for every guest who does not show up? Unless you call in advance? I really don't want to deal with that but I agree it's always best to book larger and decrease than try to add guests later. Thanks!

As long as someone shows up, there is no charge, even if you have a reservation for 8 and only 3 show up. The only charge is if no one shows up, then it's $10 per person.

Please don't do this. Reservations are hard enough to come by at some of the more popular places, so if at any point, you know everyone you reserved for isn't coming, edit the reservation. Otherwise (as in the 3 out of 8 show example), that's a family of 5 that could have made a reservation as well.
