can this effectively run BF2?

Yea, it could probably run Battlefield 2. Running it with high graphics settings is a whole other story, though. For that you'd need like a Radeon x800 or something. Also, I'd recommend a gig of RAM. If you want it to look nice, you need some place to load the high quality textures to.

So do I.... i went to a cybercafe last night... BF2 is amazing... a must have.... I love being the medic, it is so fun to run around shocking people after they got run over by a tank.... then getting shot then shocked by another medic. never underestimate the power of a group of 2 medics.

x200 is an integrated chipset.

Also, X series cards do exist in both AGP and PCI-E interfaces, so you might want to look into that a bit more carefully.

Yea, I realized my mistake as I was researching video cards for my new computer. I'm not exactly an expert on these things. :p

For my new computer I'll be getting:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+
eVGA GeForce 6800GS 256MB PCIe
1GB DDR RAM (2GB as soon as I can afford it)

I've heard a lot of good things about that computer. I had actually been thinking about getting it myself for a while.

Doesn't look half bad. I'd say go for it, unless you have the know-how to build your own. Although, I suppose if you did, you wouldn't be buying a pre-built computer.

I do, but it was just too good of a deal to pass up, I look forward to playing you guys Christmas day when I get BF 2 along with my computer. btw, the RAM is 1024, not 512, I bought an upgrade.

I'd be careful with that one... the Video card utilizes "shared" memory which means it takes from your RAM because it doesn't have any RAM on the card. That's usually a big 'no-no' in gaming. It's also the reason the computer is priced so low.

In fact... read this from ATI's site...

3D Gaming
The Radeon® Xpress 200 is the first chipset with a graphics processor that let you play the latest game titles on DirectX™ 9 and OpenGL™ technology. For serious gaming fun and competitive play, you can upgrade your performance with an additional ATI graphics card and give yourself the winning edge.
