Can someone tell me about staying at WDW within ECV?

My wife and I are send my parents to WDW for their anniversary in November. They’re staying at POFQ and my mom has severe osteoarthritis of her knees and is thinking about renting an ECV for the duration of their trip. It will be just her and my dad so I’d like to get as much info as possible. It looks like I’ll be renting it for them from an off site company and have it delivered to POFQ. A couple of questions we all have is: where do you charge it and leave it over night? Can the bus driver drive it on to the bus or does my mom have to do it? They have dinner at Narcoosees the night of their anniversary and would like to go to MK after. Are there cabs that can accommodate the ECV or will they need to get Disney transport to take them from FQ to the GF?
Thanks in advance for any help, I just want to make this as stress free a trip as possible for them!

They could take a bus from POFQ to MK and take the monorail from there to GF.

I’m not sure if the boats from MK to GF take ECVs. They may need to use the monorail. But the stations have ramps so they can get in and out of the monorail.

As an ECV user, I would suggest Buena Vista scooters...they will deliver to the resort and it will be waiting for them on their arrival.

2 suggestions I ALWAYS make with these questions...first...VERY IMPORTANT...have your mom take 15-30 minutes on the resort grounds BEFORE they venture into a park to familiarize herself with the ECV. Steering, starting, stopping, etc. Whether or not she has ever used one, every brand is different and they each have their idiosyncrasies with performance. This one "training session" will make their visit much less stressful once they enter a park. The second is, have mom take the charger cord with them throughout the trip into the parks...if she needs a quick charge, she can ask any CM especially at a restaurant to plug in while dining and shopping. Lastly don't forget to plug in EVERY night to recharge. I hope they have a magical trip!!

Smiley gave you some very important tips. I'll add this one: during that first practice session have her practice backing up, and turning while in reverse. It will be invaluable both to her, and the other guest feet that she won't run over.

You may want to request a ground floor room at POFQ. The buildings have elevators, but getting to the room will be easier if it's on the round floor.

As mentioned, you have 2 choices to get to the GF. A Minnie Van, ordered from your resorts front desk. Or taking the bus to MK and transferring to the monorail. From the GF to the MK, just take the monorail.

FYI, the charging cord in Buena Vista ECVs are in the pouch on the back of the seat and have a steel cable hooked to them so they are always with you. I find the overnight charge to be sufficient for a full day at the parks.

I now use my late father's ECV that I bring down...I haven't used a rental in quite a while, so thanks for adding that additional info!

Boats to GF and Polynesian cannot accommodate them. The only boats in the area that do are the TTC ferries or the larger boats that go around to WL/Ft. Wilderness. I'd personally opt for a Minnie Van for that trip (they will take an ECV, but you have to request the ones that are handicapped accessible)

We also suggest charging in the room and requesting a ground floor just for ease. Also practice if you've never used them (even go to stores locally that have them to try out before going).

Bus drivers are so kind now in general about ECVs. My only advice is take your time. It is harder to maneuver the parks in an ECV vs on foot. People will not see you and run into you. So if you can make yourself more visible in one somehow, (lights, canopies etc) then do it :)
