Can I make ADR but someone else check in?

Short story...my parents are meeting me at MCO and taking my kiddo to a separate resort when my friend and I go to run the W&D 1/2. I'll get her back at the resort when it's time to leave.

They want to take the kiddo to Princess/Character meal(s). Right now there are no princess meals and limited character ones in the parks.
I keep telling my dad it's not like it was when we went in '95 and these need to be made well in advance.

Am I able to book these under my MDE and they check in with my name? I know the system and I don't think my dad will be checking daily like I will/can. They won't be on the dining plan and I don't remember having to show any identification for our ADR's.

I also suggested that they use a WDW military travel agent. Hopefully they release the military rates soon and if he told them what meals they wanted they'd also help stalk them correct?

I don't see any reason why they couldn't check in under your name. No one ever verified who I was when I checked in at the host stands for a single ADR in June. Just make sure they know about the cancelation policy so you don't get charged if they don't go for some reason.

Oh, I would ;-)

My mom keeps telling me to tell him again but there are only so many times you can lead a horse to water! Lol

I'm trying not to take over their trip but I know this is something my mom wants them to do. I don't want them to miss one if it becomes available.

You can actually make dinine reservations for someone else in MDE. Just connect to each other as a contact, and when you go to make the reservation, a drop down menu will appear with anyone your connected to. You can select whomever you'd like to put the reservation in their name!

Just be aware that if you do that and you choose someone as the "Lead Guest" who has their own MDE account (i.e. not one that you control) then you lose the ability to cancel that reservation from your own MDE account.

You'd have to have them log in to cancel it, or call and speak with a phone op and give them the reservation number.

It would be my parents with my kid. I'm fairly certain I could shake any money lost out of them ;-)

This happened to us on our last trip... in our case, we were dining with a GREAT friend at Yachtsman....

She was just a tad late... so, having the Res Number & name? I just let the check in folks KNOW she was on her way. They were great, as usual - but at least on this occasion? No seating occurred until the person HOLDING the ADR arrived. It wasn't a problem at all for us :).

I would think the OP's parents could get around that, though, because the right number of people would still be showing up for the reservation. All her mom would have to do is use her name to check in at the restaurant. It's not like they'll ask for an ID.

Ok, so far I got them 1900 Park Fare AND I scored a Chef Mickeys breakfast. I found an Akershus a dinner ADR but it was too close to illuminations and, well, it was runner so $$$

We aren't doing too many ADR's with my friends so I don't think I'll have to worry too much if we want to eat at same times.

Side note- how close can you book ADR's if we do run into that issue?

I'm not sure, but if it was me, I'd get your friends to make the other ADR's so you don't have to worry about it.

You will, though, have to wait for whoever the reservation's name is in to be checked in though. My daughter & I did an ADR at CRT for dinner. She got there about 10 minutes before me and they wouldn't check us in until I arrived as I was the one who made the reservation. Which I thought was kinda silly as I was only 10 minutes behind her - she's skinny and walks faster than I do and snakes through the crowd around the Castle easier.

But, how do they know that? My name is jane doe. My mom just says "I'm Jane Doe checking in". They have no way to verify that as they don't ask for ID.

I would agree, but when I walked up, she was standing there waiting for me so I could check in and the CM said she couldn't check us in until I arrived. Go figure.

But how many people were in your party? If everyone in the party isn't there, most Disney restaurants won't seat you. If there are three people on the ADR, and three people walk up and one claims to be the person who made the ADR, no one will ever know.

Just the two of us. And it was CRT, so we weren't going to be seated for a while anyway. I don't know why the CM wouldn't let her check in and get the "receipt", especially since I was 10 minutes behind her.

Because once they check you in, if everyone still isn't there they then have a problem because it throws their seating order out of whack. I know it's a pain, but considering how busy CRT tends to get, I can see why they would have such a policy.

I understand, but I thought it was kinda silly since I was just 10 minutes behind her.....

And they would know that how? I'm sure other people tell them that all the time and then the rest of the group doesn't show up until later.

I'm really not trying to be rude or demean your position here... but in terms of the OP's question, I don't think your experience has any bearing on what will happen with situation.

I made ADR's for my brother & his family when they had no idea how to go about doing so. And I knew if I explained it, they'd never do it in time to get the kids to Chef Mickey's. There were no problems. And if they'd missed it, I trusted my brother to pay up, haha.
