Can anyone confirm Poly's current concierge check-in process?

Last time we arrived and stopped at the outside desk and explained we were there to check-in for concierge, the person informed us to go right into the lobby and stand in line. Knowing that was incorrect and having to fight to get their attention, we ended up walking around to Hawaii and checking in. I've read a few trip reports in the last few months to see that others have called out this behavior.

Someone mentioned the outside desk was one of the "outsourced" activities and this might be the reason. Does anyone know with certainty that they no longer escort you back to the building (usually with a golfcart)?

The policy is that you check in in Hawaii. We have been there twice in last 6 months and stayed in the Concierge Level both times. Relative to the golf cart we had two different experiences. The first time we arrived at 9:30 a.m. The outside valet/luggage desk had been previously advised that no concierge rooms were available. (They called) Therefore, our room was not ready and our luggage needed to be stored. After we stored our luggage we were directed to walk to Hawaii to check in.

The other time we arrived at about noon. We stopped at the front valet/luggage desk. They called Hawaii and then put our luggage in the mule golf cart with us and took us to Hawaii for check in. The room was ready at that time. That might have made a difference.

Hope this helps.

On our last Concierge stay we were taken via golf cart to the Concierge Hawaii building to check in as soon as we got out of our limo.

I mentioned to my wife that it would save us a tip if we just walked to the Hawaii building with our own luggege on our next trip ( in 21 days:sohappy: )
but my wife reminded me that you can't get INTO the Hawaii Concierge check in area without a Room key so the Disney resort people HAVE to drive you there in their little golf carts so they can let you inside the check in area.

We stayed there about 11 months ago. We decided to upgrade when we went to check in. We were offered the golf cart ride but decided to walk. When we got to the glass doors we waved at one of the nice ladies and they let us in. They gave our daughter some juice and something to play with and they checked us in. Our bags ended up getting the golf cart ride.

I would be suprised if this has changed. We had dinner and V and A around 9:00 and when we left it was pretty late and one of the bellman at the Grand Floridian gave us a ride back to the Poly pool. Could not get us to the Hawaii door b/c of some pesky steps. We tipped him but it was fun and much easier after the wine. I really dont think anything has changed about the level of service. If it has TIKI MAN would know.

I am envious of everyone staying at the Poly concierge its great (except for the lemonade that stuff could stip walls) we will not be staying there anytime soon b/c we are new DVC owners at the Beach Club. Have fun and enjoy the grat service.

Thanks everyone. The last trip was so suprising as, in all our previous visits, once you said the word "concierge", they would normally fall over themselves to get you to the right place. Maybe it was just who was ever on duty this last time? I mean, I'm not going to make a stink about it next time around but that little trip does make you feel special and adds to the magic as you arrive.
