Can a Magic Band be re-programmed?

I am an AP and have been on several trips and up to three magic bands. My sister is going on her first ever trip to WDW this fall and we are staying off-site. Can they reprogram one of my bands with her ticket information? I really don't need three and since the rest of our group have them already it would be nice if she had one.

No. Once a MB is tied to a person, it cannot be reprogrammed (or so we're being told). In fact, if a guest buys a MB while at WDW, there are signs up that say that MB's are not returnable once linked to an account.

Thanks - That is kind of silly and not that green, since there are probably a ton of extra bands lying around now.

Yeah, there are posts upon posts of people making fun of how many MB's they have. Maybe Disney will pick up on this and streamline the system so that people have the option of ordering a second (or third, or whatever) MB without making it something that automatically happens. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the kind of thing that gets improved as this whole system evolves.

The bands have wording on the inside that indicate they are non-transferable if used as admission media.

And as others have said, I don't think they can be linked to any other MDE account once they've been linked once. They can only be deactivated in your account if they're lost or stolen, and even then they're still listed...they just don't have any privileges.

The phone conversation with my mom last night pretty much emphasises how stupid this is:
Me: Mom - what color of magic band do you want
Mom: I already have one - what do you mean what color
Me: You ware getting another one
Mom: Why?

Then I had to explain each on-site visit we get one and you get one for you AP - so we have several now and then she asked will her old band work - I said yes - her reply was - well that is stupid why do I need another one.

Then I had to explain that my sister won't have one then she was like - how does she get one, I said she can buy one then had to explain she didn't have to becuse her ticket works the same as a band. It took me 15 minutes to get the simple answer I wanted of "Orange" explaining this.

I have decided disney could save a ton of money buy either issuing one band or just dropping the bands all together and people use their tickets (Like we did with the old system).

Now we know where all the money went - just into the bands themselves, not the technology, just the bands...

My fifth and 6th set are on there way.

Yeah. Pretty sure they can't be re-programmed. After a new account unexpectedly being created with a reservation, we have 3 new MagicBands that are already deactivated and three more on the way. Crazy!
