Camping Help

Hello looking at staying a Fort Wilderness camp ground as part of a great American road trip, what do people think?
The good, the bad and the ugly were looking at hiring a small camper van type thing. Are the comfort stations nice? Is it worth the money as a camp site ? All comments greatly appreciated. Cheers

I responded to your other post. Yes, I think Fort Wilderness is worth the money. I've paid a lot more for a lot less in a campground (Florida Keys and east coast beach front private campgrounds are wildly expensive).

Just to weigh in on this as a big time road tripper . Start at WDW. If you do a big road trip don't end at WDW. I have done this and it really makes all the fake stuff feel...extra fake. Once you have seen some of the real places that are mimicked at WDW the mimicry can be disappointing. But if you start at WDW it helps get you fired up for the real thing. I also find that WDW trips are so rush rush and full of planning that a more spontaneous adventure afterward is very relaxing. Its the best of both worlds!

Were you renting the camper van as part of an overall longer trip? Or renting it from one of the companies in FL just for WDW? If it's the later, I'm pretty sure that the rental cost plus the site fees would be on par with a value resort, if not higher. If the rental is part of a longer trip, it's not a bad campground. I've definitely stayed at worse that cost more.

How do you mean? Anywhere in particular ? I am completely aware the the African continent doesn't began in Florida lol :) it will be near the end and I going more as Disney crazy but I happy to hear more about it
haha :) , no but places like Colorado or New Mexico with landscapes that look like big thunder, the actual Mississippi not of Rivers of America , Glacier National Park or Yellowstone not Wilderness Lodge etc etc. I highly recommend if you ar doing a roadtrip to get a national park pass. They are only around $80 per car/family and you can map your route to visit a couple on your way there or home.

If you are driving from LA there is so much cool stuff in the Southwest and a bunch of national parks between you and orlando. You could even drive rt 66 part of the way which is quite the experience and something I think everyone should try to do.

Road trips are great and there is so much to see in this country so you are going to have a lot of fun!
