Has anyone ever done any camping at Fort Wilderness Campground? What type of activities are there to do around the Fort Wilderness area? Anyone ever been to the hayride and sing along with Chip & Dale? Any info would be great!!

I am prolly the biggest Fort Wilderness attendee on this forum
I go every year and stay there

If u have kids u will want to check up at the comfort stations every day on a calender of showings for each night. every night after the sing along thingy they show a movie which is pretty cool.

There's also the Meadows which is the recreational section of the campgrounds. There is swimming, arcade, tennis, etc.

There are two trading posts one in the Meadows and one near the Marina. The one near the Meadows is the one with mostly groceries and stuff, the other is more like a gift shop.

Then theres Pioneer Hall, there u can find The hoopdy Doo Musical Revue and a resturaunt with an awesome breakfast buffet and right next door is a petting farm and little gift booths.

Its huge so there is definitely a need to bring bikes (u will need them desperately at times because the new bus system can be lil poky sometimes) and the marina can get u from Fort Wilderness to Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge which is very convenient when going to Magic Kingdom.

The horse drawn hayride is cool because it takes you through the woods to the shores of baylake just in time to see the water parade and the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

my family has enjoyed it since the beginning of WDW and we still love it

p.s. go check out the lawnmower tree

I have never been to Fort Wilderness either. A couple of questions it.
1.) How much does it resemble a real campground?
2.) Does it being in the middle of WDw take anything way?

Thanks!

theres no doubt its a real campground it is all surrounded by wooded areas there are playgrounds and basketball goals scattered throughout the campgrounds, the campsites are very well big and roomy and its really filled with alot of nature.

Youlll never kno your in the middle of WDW, its wonderful, very peaceful youll love it

Fort Wilderness is my favorite resort!

I've stayed a TON of times in a tent-trailer and also the cabins.

The family has given up camping for about 4 years now, since my mother sold the tent-trailer.

BUT..........I'm used to shoddy campgrounds in Maine. You know cruddy toilets/showers, swimmers ear, leaches, the waste smell, no electrical hook-up, everything!

Well, Fort Wilderness is like the 5 star campground, nothing like any campground I've ever been to. The Comfort Stations are VERY nice, the camp sites are secluded in their each little own way. I would say Fort Wilderness is a Luxury camping destination.

And of course, the best thing to do in FW, renting golf carts and just spending your whole stay crusing around Fort Wilderness!

In October my family and I are going to stay in the cabins. We've never been either. Can you help us with any comments or information on the cabins that will help us?? Anything will do. My father is still kinda sketchy on staying in a cabin. I'm trying to convince him to try the cabins instead of 2 adjoining rooms in a hotel. Thanks!

We will be camping in tents and are going in September. Anyone know approx. cost of a site per night. Also do campers get the same priviledges as if you are staying in a Disney resort? It sounds like FW is a cool place to camp-lots to do. Do you have to make reservations ahead of time to go on the hayride? Thanks so much for all the info.

campers are staying in a disney resort just like all the other guests so yes they get the same priveleges

when we rode the hayride we jut walked up forked out the money and hopped on

im only 15 so i dont usually pay but i think the prices vary due to location in the campgrounds the population of WDW and the size needed to camp
