That's a nice zoom! I've never bothered with the digital zoom on my camera... figure if I want something that pixellated, I can blow it up in Photoshop. I've got 3x optical on my camera... bought an additional 2.4x telephoto lens for Christmas, and it makes SUCH a big difference!
For me, it does the job wonderfully. I want to get a DLSR someday, but for now it is more than enough camera (to learn how to use correctly ( )
It has the 10x optical zoom as well, and it can make a huge difference.
This is a picture of Mickey during Fantasmic, and we were about halfway up in the Dinner package section.
The other thing that helps me with this camera is the IS or image stabilization system, it helps to steady shots that are either zoomed or those with a slow shutter speed.
My brother got a new Digital Rebel and I was not impressed by the pictures although it could be the quality of the lens. Except for the fact that the lens is the same has he used with is 35mm Rebel and the colors had been fine.
These pictures where taken within a few seconds of each others. 1 was taken with a 4 year old Canon Pro 90 IS while the other was taken with a 1 week old Canon Digital Rebel.
These picture are untouched and have only been resized. Of course the I would imagine that the Rebel picture could have something to do with the type & quality of the lens. Full Size Digital Rebel - 2.19 MB Full Size Digital Pro 90 IS - 1.32 MB
The base price of both camera (when new) was about the same at around $900.00
