hey everyone! i got a question for you... on the "Disneys Contemporary Resort California Grill" website it says that the service type is Sit-Down Meal and something special. Now my question is, what is the something special? Is it just the great view of the fireworks.. or something else? we are eating there on february 4,2002 and i was just wondering... o well thats about all i have to say.. thanks!! merry christmas!!

I think that mean that it is one of the nicer restaurants, meaning that you could use it for something special like an angagement or anniversary or things like that.
I hope that you enjoy it, I love to eat there!

Hey!

If you're going there for dinner, then the treat is definitely the fireworks. Not only is it a view, BUT the restaurant turns it into their own show. They dim down all the lights in the restaurant and they play the actual music from the show going on in Magic Kingdom IN the restaurant, so it's seriously like you're sitting right in the park watching them.

That plus the fact that it's the best view of the fireworks in all of WDW in my opinion. ;) I hope they still do the little show because they did when my parents went last year.

Have fun!

Last time we went we ate their just to watch the frireworks, it was wonderful. A couple of nights later we went onto the balcony and the kids thought that was better than eating in the restaurant:hammer:

I'd imagine that the "something special" is the view, and as said above, the fireworks.

I ate there during my last trip and it was wonderful. Especially the fireworks show. If you are going to spend the money to eat there, definitely get a reservation during the fireworks show.

Apart from the wonderful, almost perfect view, of the Fireworks, you have an excellent view of the Seven Seas Lagoon, Grand Florydean Resort and the iluminated Magic Kingdom at night. But there is an unwritten rule for the California Grill which is that most of it's audience/customers are couples, since it's a romantic setting. You can also go with your family but it isn't the same ;) .

My wife, child and I went to CG recently. We thought that the food was very good, and the service was excellent! (For us, the "something special" was the service -- that's how pleased we were.)

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the fireworks from the CG (or its balcony). We never got back to the contemporary. Oh, well. There's always next time.
