Currently it is business casual. No tank tops, swimwear or other revealing clothing. No T-Shirts for adults. Shorts are acceptable if apporpriate in length and hemed. Collars are preferred (but not requried) on gentlemen. Not very different from other Dress Code required locations at Walt Disney World.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your meal! :sohappy:

Okay, this may be a random question to be asking you JP, but what exactly is meant by the "no t-shirt" rule? Because that seems like a pretty all-encompassing prohibition to me!!! I have some really nice t-shirts (kind of form-fitting, solid colours etc...) and I was never told to leave Artist Point!

I guess the bottom line is that it's all discretionary, eh?

Cali Grill made a decsion to increase its dress code - most other WDW locations if they have a dress code are "resort casual" which is essentially anything but swim suits.

Cali Grill is marketed as a high-end restaurant and caters to adults, thus they chose to change their dress code to be more formal in attempt to better satisfy their guests. Guests in evening gowns and dress/formal attire are not uncommon there.

It's a little trickey, and hard not to offend someone, but its simply trying to be a "classy" place to make the guests happy. Some people do enjoy a "sophisticated" experience and want to be enveloped in it as much as others just want "Magical" by means of Mickey ears and exceptional custodial quality in the parks. Understand?

T-shirt in the sense of a casual printed T-shirt ie you appear to be advertising something. Solid colors or patterns will not be questioned. Also, being Disney, it is not strongly enforced. Like Mousemerf stated, it is to promote a more "sophisticated" feel to the experience.

Note that there are about 3 different dress code standards at WDW restuarants. Smart Casual, Business Casual, and Formal.

Formal would include:
The Chef's Domaine at Citricos
The Chef's Table at Victoria's & Albert's
Victoria's & Albert's

Business Casual would include:
California Grill

Smart Casual would include:
Jiko - The Cooking Place
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Citricos
Narcoossee's
Artist Point
Bistro de Paris

-Mousemerf, since you seem to know alot about Dining, am I missing any?

Will they actually tell you that you have to leave because you are not dressed appropriately? When I ate at California Grill everyone seemed nicely dressed but last yeat on the cruise when we went to Palo's, which is also supposed to have a dress code, both times we saw people in bathing suits. They obviously don't turn people away there, so I was wondering if they would turn you away at California Grill?

Heading for the great escape.
We make a bit of an effort when we go to the Cali, nothing over the top, bermudas and a collared shirt, the girls in dress/skirt.I hope this is enforced.

It was our aniversary on our last visit and we were having a great time, but being seated next to a family who looked like they had either lost everything in the hurricane or were ship wrecked was a bit of a shock. It also looked out of place as most other diners were were smartly,if casualy dressed. They were neither and had come straight in from the pool, because they were on vacation and couldnt be bothered with the effort. (as she told my wife).

In a query to a waitress and a manager over the suject - if you really push it, yes, they will.

Good! I'm always happy to have at least one nice sit down meal where there are no men who appear to be little more than apes posing as humans in tank tops. With their loud voices, horrendous table manners and just general ickiness, I wouldn't be surprised to see them flinging poo at each other by the time dessert rolls around.

Granted, the worst I had ever seen was at Cindy's which, unfortunately, does not have a similar dress code... But I've been pretty surprised at the way in which some people dress when they have dinner. Yes, I know, they're on vacation, but doesn't that at least warrant real sleeves, wearing clothes that have no visible stains or tears, or, I dunno, washing one's face before sitting down to a nice meal??? In a comparably priced place at home, it would be unheard of!!!
