California Grill or Flying Fish Cafe?

Would you go to the California Grill and watch MK fireworks from high up or go to the Flying Fish Cafe and then walk over to Epcot to watch Illuminations?

Looking for advice when planning upcoming trip for 2 adults.

Personally, I didn't care for the fireworks up on top of the Contemporary. Felt too detached from the action compared to being on mainstreet or standing around the world showcase lagoon.

Could also have something to do with the very chilly early March wind up on the 15th floor of the building... but I think I'd still rather see them on the ground close up so I'd pick Flying Fish.

Now if you take fireworks out of the picture and just go for the dining experience, I'd go for the California Grill. I enjoy the food more at Cali Grill and they have the best wine list on the property.

Well I like to eat at both but we have alwasy had better food at the Flying Fish. I also enjoy watching Illuminations much more than Wishes so my vote is Flying Fish and than walk over to Epcot.

My vote is for California Grill and Wishes. My family did this on our last trip, and it was great. The food was some of the best I've had on Disney property, and it was great to get a different view of the fireworks (almost a top-down view). However, I'd highly suggest seeing Wishes from the main street area first to get the full impact of the show and doing the grill on a later night, perhaps on the last night of the trip, like we did.

That's a very tough question to answer as CG and FF are two of my favorite restaurants. Hmmm...still thinking.....I would say California Grill as it has more variety in food choices than the Flying Fish. Either way you can't lose. Good eats to you. :slurp:

I would go with the California Grill. In my opinion the food is much better than Flying Fish. Flying Fish has always seemed over rated and over priced to me. Even discounting fireworks, the view from the CG is amazing.

California Grill and Wishes. As much as I love the Boardwalk and Illuminations, there's just nothing like going out on the California Grill observation deck and watching the fireworks :)
Enjoy!

We saw the fireworks from the California Grill last trip. It was a good view, but there were a lot of people.
Felt too detached from the action compared to being on mainstreet
Might I add they have a superb chicken dinner.

IMO, the best spot to view the fireworks is on top the railroad station, looking down on Main Street (even though it doesn't relate to the dinner situation).

Thanks for the input everyone!!!!! :)

I am leaning toward the California Grill as our tentative plans already have us seeing both the Halloween version of Wishes and Illiminations up close.

Anyone else who has input please feel free to chime in.
