Cabins at Fort Wilderness and the Disney Club

This weekend I made a booking for next summer at the affore mentioned resort, the result of an excellent piece of sales work from the cm.
My question is two fold,

Is there ever AP discounts offered on this resort, and has anyone ever had one.
Or if you were in my boots would you do as the Disney Club have suggested renew my card early and guarantee the room rate ive been given.

PS, the cm stated when I made the ressy that should anybetter deals come along i could change my existing booking, is this true?

I need to clarify what you booked.

Fort Wilderness is the campground that has cabins that sleep 6.

Wilderness Lodge is a regular hotel. (Pacifc Northwest themeing)

Wilderness Lodge Villas is next door to Wilderness Lodge and is a Disney Vacation Club (time share) resort. There are studio, 1, & 2 bedroom units.

It is massively confusing, and I will not embarrass myself and tell you how long it took me to get them straight in my head.

Not sure about the AP/DC discount situation, but I have heard many times on this board that you can change reservations to reflect additional discounts. Do NOT assume you will be given them automatically, because you won't.

There are AP package deals that are offered for the various resorts. They do not always run them though. And yes, you can defiantely change your reservation if you find a good discount. The only downfall to this, is Disney sometimes requires you to give a seperate deposit for the new reservation and then they will send you your original deposit back to you. Sometimes they will just move the money over to the new reservation, it depends on the cm.

Sorry about the original title, so much changed this weekend i confused myself. I was of course refering to the cabins, The deluxe room at the Lodge was just a price jump to far, unless i cut a week off our trip.:(

I was not assuming discounts I just found it strange that I was told that something better may come along and that i was encouraged to keep abraest of the changes. Forgive me I live in rip off Britain, so if you dip out on discounts tuff.

Fort Wilderness Cabins

The Fort Wilderness Cabins have great benefits & some drawbacks.

I love the space you have in them. You'll have a full kitchen, completely stocked with dishes, pots & pans, etc. A big refrigerator with an ice maker. A separate bedroom with a full sized or queen bed, (I can't remember which) and bunk beds. You also have a pull down queen sized Murphy bed in the living room. One bathroom. You have a nice deck with a charcoal grill. This is of course air conditioned & heated and has maid service.

The down side is that you are quite secluded in the woods. That means no room service, no quick access to a restaurant, a pool or a bar. You do have very frequent busses that will pick you up at the end of your little street to take you to the parks, or to the one restaurant that is in Fort Wilderness. They don't allow you to drive around in your own car unless you are coming in straight to your cabin, or leaving the campgrounds. You can rent a golf cart to get around Ft. Wilderness. There is NO night life there.

It really is lovely & peaceful but you have to be prepared that it's not like a hotel experience at all.

Have a great trip!

AWESOME

I'd have to say that the Ft. Wilderness cabins were the nicest I have stayed at. Very comfortable, and the peace and quiet is beautiful there. They have a couple of free roaming peacocks you get to see, even an albino. That was nice. I got some seriously sick rate though, so I couldn't pass. We ended up paying around $150 per night. Earlier this year, we stayed for 5 days in a cabin, rented the golfcart, which makes a hella difference when trying to get around. Make sure you reserve one, you're gonna want it. Also, I believe nightly they would have a sing-along with some characters around a campfire, and sometimes a Disney movie too. I really enjoyed it cause we got to do our own thing, and make noise. It was truly a different experience, and for a good rate I'll jump at it in a heartbeat again. Oh yeah, you can change reservations if a better rate comes up. So cal often and keep checking.
