Cabana Question-

I reserved a cabana at GF yesterday, half day not full day. 10am-2pm.
Then I realized that I had switched our 1900 PF reservations from 2pm to 11am.

Questions-

When I check in the day prior, any chance that they can move my dining reservation to 10am? I don't mind missing an hour of the cabana rental, but not 2.

I'm assuming that the pool will not be crowded on Thanksgiving weekend, so if there is plenty of availability would I be able to customize the times? 12-4 instead of 10-2?

Has anyone had success with that before?

Thanksgiving weekend is an extremely busy time of year. You should not assume the pool will not be crowded or that you will be able to easily change your dining reservation. I would try to change one or the other ASAP.

@Tuvalu or @Master Yoda should know the answer to that... for now I would just stalk ADR's to see if you will be able to switch times on your own before having to address it there

Any luck getting that garden view tea room yet? I almost didn't recognize you with your new pic :) LOL

I check multiple times per day and have not had any luck with Garden View Tea Room :(. I've called several times as well. I'm flexible on days so the CM I spoke to recommended that I ask at the front desk when we check in. Hopefully she is correct, but she said they "should" be able to accommodate us on one of the days.

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking the the pool won't be busy end of November..but I do know there was multiple cabanas available when I booked mine.

The photo is from yesterday during our HallZooween. He will be Mario on Halloween night...unfortunately we didn't go costume shopping until last weekend and his first 5 picks (#1 being a zombie) were all sold out. :(.

The only option I have on the cabana is to do a full day.:and not willing to pay for that.lol

There is a football game on at noon which is the reason for the cabana.. We could at least watch the first half there.

Don't worry I'm sure it will all work out... As far as the pool goes I guess it really all depends on the weather when it comes to the availability of the cabanas. I'm leaving in 1 week from tomorrow, I've been looking at an extended forecast and much of the 2 weeks I will be there says 72-79 degrees I can't imagine the pools being packed with that temp, although I'll still be in there because they're heated ;)

Are you able to change the day of the cabana or the time instead of changing your dining reservation?

Either way your son is absolutely adorable and on the bright side Mario is a little nicer than zombies lol

Lol..thanks! Yes, can't say that I'm too broken hearted about the zombie thing.

The only reason for the cabana is so we can watch the OSU vs Michigan game.. It's the only place I can think of that doesn't involve a 6 year old sitting in a bar for 4 hours. The game time was still TBA when I booked..I really thought it would be a night game and we could watch in the room..don't want to sit in there during a day game. Kickoff is at 12pm.

Sorry I can't help with your cabana question, but I would assume they are pretty strict with reservation times...at least that's how it was at the Poly.

Having read your other posts in different threads, I sense that watching the OSU/Michigan game is very important to you (and understand since that is my hubby's most important game of the year to watch.) If this is your highest priority for the day, then absolutely keep your cabana reservation. Your son will have lots of fun in the pool (yes it will be warm enough in FL for him to enjoy that) and you will get to enjoy the game.

I'd wager to say your son will enjoy the time at the pool more than 1900 Park Fare. Grab some lunch from the pool bar - kids love to eat outside! Plus I am sure he will enjoy the novelty of watching a football game in a cabana. :)

If 1900 Park Fare is a must-do, then keep checking for an earlier time, so that you are not sacrificing cabana time. I have had great success booking 1900 PF breakfast the night before - not modifying an existing reservation but making a brand new one. I have learned that it isn't easy to modify the time of an existing ADR, as the system seems to "force" you to keep the time you already have. It may be in your best interest to outright cancel your existing ADR - provided you are ok with the possibility of not getting another one.

Sometimes "less is more" - meaning don't try to schedule every minute of your vacation. Yes, that may mean you "miss" something. But the unplanned times with our kids at WDW always ended up being our favorite times - times they still talk about years later!

"Mom, remember the time we watched the OSU/Michigan game in a cabana!" is far more likely than "Mom, remember that character breakfast we had?" Because there are lots of opportunities to meet characters on other days of your vacation...but only one Big Game.

Have you tried the reservation finder on the TP site? It came good for me for Chef Mickey on Christmas Day, plus another 3 changes all over the Christmas period. Well worth it, you can get it to text you when it finds something which should make it even easier. I had to make do with texts so missed a couple before striking lucky. Good luck!

I have. I never seem to get to it in time! Going to keep trying.
