According to today's blog post, the Gold and Platinum Castaway Club reception will now only be available on sailings of 8 nights or longer.

Wow. At least I got one proper reception under my belt. That was on my most recent Magic cruise in March.

The prior one was my first as a Gold member, and it was the "special entertainment" variety that's described as the new format. In October 2015 out of NYC, they "previewed" the new/rearranged opening number to "Twice Charmed" for Gold/Platinum members in the Walt Disney Theater. So, basically, we got a free cocktail while we watched the final dress rehearsal. Two birds, one stone!
