I really like the Wilderness Lodge and would love to have that as my home resort, but i can save money by buying into a cheaper resort. It is going to come down to money for me. But the question i have if I mainly travel in Sept. will i have a hard time getting a Studio at WL if my home resort is say Vero Beach or Old Key West.

Thanks so much.

I wouldn't think september would be very hard to get the reservation you want. Keep in mind the cost of the dues too. You mentioned buying at Vero Beach, but that has the highest dues of any of the resorts (right now anyway) even though the purchase price is one of the lowest. There's a lot of questions right now as to what will happen in 2042. They are extending the OKW contracts to 2057 (for a hefty price) but have not said anything about the other resorts yet. I doubt they would extend HH or VB but expect them to extend the contracts for BW, WL and BCV in the near future to help keep the resale prices high. Lots to think about.:)

I am not really concearned that the contracts will end in 2042. That is still 30 plus years from now and I am 32. So i really dont care about the amount of years.

I don't know about WL but we own at SSR and always have a difficult time booking at BC or BWV. Every time we tried to book within 7 months for BC and BWV we were placed on a waiting list.

I also know others have had the same problem.

Knowing what I know today I would have bought at BC or BWV. My recomendation would be to purchase the resort you prefer to frequent. The 11 month booking is a big advantage.

We are starting to look at Old Key West to get 150 points. My wife said we need to come up with half the purchase amount to get it. We have about 2k saved up that we could use.

You can take out a home equity loan for the remainder and deduct the interest from your taxes. You also have an option of renting your points and consider the purchase as an investment.
