So... because nothing in my life can ever be easy or go as planned, there was drama right off the bat. So back in February I booked a rental car through Hertz (my sister gets a discount being a Lowes employee). I reserved a mid-sized SUV for the way down there and a minivan for the way back (I wanted Gracie to have plenty of room to stretch out on the way back). On Wednesday night at 5:58 I received a phone call. I didn't have my phone on me, so about 10 minutes later I realized I had a missed call and a voicemail. It was Hertz letting me know that they didn't have any SUV's available, but they were going to give me a 2 seater utility van for $30 off and a free tank of gas. I was LIVID!!!!! The night before we leave and I have to deal with this????? So I try and call the guy back to see if they have a large sedan or anything else available, but surprise surprise, they closed at 6 p.m. just a few short minutes after he called me in the first place. I get redirected to the main Hertz number, where I was told that they have no idea if any other locations have an SUV in inventory and that I will have to wait until they open at 8:00 the next morning to see what I can do. I apologized many times to the man that I spoke to because I was VERY upset and wanted a resolution then! After 20 minutes on the phone with NO help, I decided that I was just going to cancel the car and take my car down there instead. This would mean that we could leave earlier and go ahead and get the car packed. NEVER again will I use Hertz for a rental. Completely unprofessional to call me, then within 5 minutes turn on your answering service.
