According to attendance numbers that I've seen published in some of the guide books, the week of Easter and the two weeks before and after are a major peak period. The past two years we've been in April, and the que times for major rides have reached the 60 minute wait by about 11:30 or so. Thank goodness for FASTPASS. I did notice that starting the week of April 7th, the week we'll be there, they've already shortened their park hours on the WDW website schedule compared to the previous two weeks. Have a wonderful time!

Let me clarify something from my earlier post. When I first read your post, Alberrisford, I missed that you're trying to plan for next year. Since Easter 2003 is on April 20th, JenLUVSmickey advice is on the mark.

I should wear my glasses more often when I read these posts.

Spring breaks here in the "the States" vary from city to city, county to county, college to college. Generally, the crowds start increasing about 2 weeks before Easter week through the two weeks after Easter week. Again, this is based on attendance numbers I've seen in guide books.

So, if you go from April 1 to April 14, 2003, you should start seeing increased crowds during your second week. The past two times we've been, it was the week after Easter week. Last year seemed heavier than the year before. Maybe you could do the more important attractions on your agenda during the first week,
and use your second week to plan more casual activies. What helped us get in most of what we wanted to see was good planning. Hope this helps.:D

I'm heading down there on April 14th, but I went to the official Disney site to check out the park hours, and the MK closes early (7:00 p.m.)!!! It's spring vacation week here in the northeast, so I would normally expect attendance to be up, and the parks to be open longer! Anyone have any info???

Some of the more informed members would know for sure, but I would make a guess that it's just part of the cutbacks. I wonder if they are projecting lower numbers during spring break times, or maybe just keeping personnel costs down to get back losses after 9/11. As you probably saw on the web site, MK will be open a little later on Monday for the fireworks, but no Spectromagic Parade. SIGH!
