I'm staying at the Crowne Plaza Resort next August for the Golden Celebration, and am just wondering if any of you who have experienced the bussing system that this Resort shares could give me an idea of what to plan on. We won't be rending a car, so any pointers on how to work the system to our advantage would be much appreciated. Thanks y'all! (we have never stayed off Disney property, so I am completely unfamiliar w/ the bussing)

I stayed at "Holiday Inn at the Park" and they had trolley transportation ... the schedule only had specific times when the trolley would start pick up and drop off, which were very few. The trolley also picked up people at other hotels before ours and the trolley came to ours 20 mins before the first park opened. You also had to pay 7-10 dollars for the trolley passes (for 2 days) which is cheaper then the 7-8 bucks at the parks lot (for 1 day).

We didn't want to be on a time schedule for the trolley, so we just took the car

My suggestion is to look at the system when you get there and asked guests around if they used it and if they liked it.

When I was younger I remember a different hotel's bus system as being good b/c it was only for that hotel and there was never a wait ... I was old enough to remember that but too young to remember the name of the hotel lol

Well - if it's anything like the Sherton's, it arrives twice and hour, about once every 1/2 hour, depending. If you have to use it, then you're pretty much stuck. Having stayed at the Sheraton Anahiem earlier this month and delt with full trams (which ment we had to wait for the next one), late trams, etc, we won't be trusting a hotel's shuttle service again! But then again, we can just drive over and park for free with out passports. :)

lady darling is right... the bussing system does not flow well. it's worse than disney transportation when wdw parks close. i don't know exactly where ur hotel is... but i have seen families walk to the parks from their hotel... so that might be an option too

I don't know how far it is walking distance, but we stayed at the Candy Cane Inn and we just walked to Disneyland Resort everyday and depending on how tired we were, we would either wait for the bus or walk back.

Thing is, Disneyland is not as spread as Disney World, so buses pretty all go to the same location and at our hotel only had one bus for it all. So it doesn't have to travel all over the world.
