Buses from Downtown Disney

I stayed at the nearby Wyndham & would recommend you drive yourself, particularly if you are limited on time.
As stated above, there are no buses from DTD to a theme park - you must transfer from a resort (not recommended, very time-consuming!). The village bus system is a mixed bag. The buses themselves are a touch nicer than Disney buses inside, with cushioned seats and music playing (which really helps keep the crowd quiet!). However, on the flip side, the buses usually stop at all the village hotels on route to the parks, so that always adds another 15-20 minutes onto every ride.
If you do use the village buses, pay close attention to the posted schedule. Buses run more frequently at certain times & some parks are serviced more frequently than others. Be especially careful reviewing the water park schedule.

I don't remember the exact schedule, but it should be posted at the bus stop at your hotel. (If not, get off for a minute at the Wyndham & you'll see it there.)
I do recall that service to Animal Kingdom and the water parks was not as frequent as Epcot/Magic Kingdom, etc. I also recall that the frequency of trips changed in the afternoon, with less trips being made. The water parks were even more restrictive, with 2-3 hour intervals between trips. The sign did list the specific pick-up times though, so you can plan for it.
Someone may correct me here, but I do think you can catch a bus to the water parks from DTD across the street. Some of the Disney hotels include stops at them en route to the marketplace. They run more frequently.
I think parking is $6 or $7 a day now at the parks.
