Yeah that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this. There is NO WAY there can be consistent quality with the builds. Some people are just not as good at assembling things as others. I am aware this is nothing more than a "gimmick", and i'm sure it will be sold in high numbers at your local urban outfitters....and then vanish into obscurity.

Does bring up a wonderful thing tho...for not TOO much more, you CAN get a far better used SLR at your local flea market that can perform better than this. I have high hopes that perhaps a surge of new film shooters may re-kindle business for photo developing solutions....but I know its just wishful thinking. The demographic this product is aimed towards will get bored of it fast...sadly enough.

film is officially a niche market... but 33 million rolls were processed last year so it's not obsolete.

Oh I believe it will NEVER be obsolete (in fact I know a few colleges that insist on students using film for their photography classes)..its just sad that the options for developing are dwindling..especially locally for me (Although in theory I could make my 2nd closet into a "dark room", i'm not ready to commit to it)

I have a dark room at home, but I'm only processing black and white these days.

As for film, I personally style believe that motto "film for art, digital for convenience" but each year digital is closing the gap on 35mm film quality.

But... in larger formats, we're YEARS away from a digital solution. 8x10 film negative contact print, no comparison to anything a D3S / D4 / D800 could ever produce.

Which one?

Sold off the 700 earlier this year, next up the the 7000. Although I am on the fence, but for sure the 70-200 VRII 2.8 is being sold. That was primarily a wedding lens for me and I'm about done doing that crap for a LONG time.

I sold off my SB900 and actually got 400 bucks for it, not bad for being 3 years old.
