Budget Cuts

Frankly, Pirates 2 and 3 might have been better movies if they had cut the bloated budgets. The needed more re-writes and fewer effects shots.

Pirates 2 and 3 weren't even on par with the original in terms of characters and story. They were mostly CGI action with some story thrown in. I enjoyed them from a fan and story continuation perspective, but I wouldn't call them great movies.

This will be in a similar vein, budget cuts or no.

That article is trying pretty hard to stir up a tempest in a teapot, but it doesn't fool me.

The first Pirates film was made cheaply and quickly, and is without a doubt the best of the series because they didn't dwell on needless special effects and action sequences.

Knightley and Bloom not returning is pretty old news at this point, and trying to say Rob Marshall is an inferior director to Gore Verbinski is silly. Verbinski's career IS Pirates of the Caribbean with a tiny handful of bad and forgettable films thrown in.

I don't think the film really needs Knightly and Bloom. Not only do I think their story is pretty much finished and you don't need to go any further with them, but you know how many people I've talked to that said that actually don't like their characters and just went to see Jack?

This does not sit well with me at all. The first thing to be cut should have been 3D filming. That has to add a bit more to production costs.

I guess they really are on stranger tides since they are not filming in the Carribean. Pirates of Hawaii.:lookaroun

I really have no interest in seeing this movie in theaters. I loved the 1st and the 2nd and 3rd were entertaining, but not necessarily good. I'll wait for this movie to come out on DVD.

Knightley and Bloom were the worst part of the films, I'm glad they're gone. Penelope Cruz > Keira Knightley in both acting skills and looks.
