(Playbill) -- On Oct. 30, Beauty and the Beast will become the seventh longest-running show on Broadway when it surpasses the original production of 42nd Street. Beauty will play performance number 3,487 on Oct. 30, having originally opened on April 18, 1994 at the Palace Theatre, where another Disney musical, Aida, now resides. More than five million people have seen the New York production of Beauty, which is currently playing the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Cats currently holds the record for the longest-running Broadway show; Les Misérables is second; and The Phantom of the Opera recently became the third longest-running show, having surpassed A Chorus Line on Oct. 12.
