Brits with DVC

Any Brits out there with DVC points.

DH & I are considering buying this year - we love the concept, price etc..., but just wondered if any buyers from 'overseas' would share ther view point.

Biggest thing is whether the distance makes it prohibitive? Do you use your point to visit other places i the world - other than WDW?

We were considering investing $20,000 in SSR - any thoughts?

Many thanks

Heading for the great escape.
This summer will be our second trip with the DVC. IMHO it is only worthwhile if you are staying at a DVC resort. If you think thatyou can get deals with free dinning plan and there are still discounted rates available it does make it a tough decision.

The only thing in the back of my mind is this nonsense about airtravel and global warming. Still Phony could be job hunting soon and Im sure my fellow counry man will have a more pragmatic approach, given the UK is a island.

We have looked at membership as a comitment and ignored all the sensible financial stuff. Cause lets face it no matter how you dress it up its still time share.

I have the same worries about future airfares etc..

I am concerned that we wont want to visit WDW every year, and liked the idea of using my points to visit other places.

Anyone had any experience of doing this?

Have been DVC members since 1995 and couldn't imagine visiting florida without it!

We go at least twice a year and sometimes more! Rather Greedy im afraid! :sohappy:

I see your point with airfares but we still find it worthwhile. Even once you have paid the annuals fees there is still no way you would get accomodation of this quality if you was staying elsewhere in orlando and staying in Disney just makes every holiday that much better. We always get flights for under £300 which I dont think is bad. The distance has never bothered me, maybe as always desperate to get out there.

Have not used the points to go anywhere else in the world other that Vero Beach. Afraid its Old Key West everytime for us!

If you want to make your points go further we sometimes stay off of WDW for the weekend we arrive then change over to OKW for the rest of the holiday. This saves points as you use much more points of the weekend. Depends if you want to stay in once place the whole time!

All in all would recommend DVC ownership to anyone!

12 weeks today til I go and cant wait! Also getting married in WDW in November!

Go for it, you will never regret it!

We became DVC members in November 06 so we have not yet stayed as members we have always stayed on international drive as for the cost the amount we pay already the dvc will have payed for itself in two or three visits yet we have a holiday til 2054 for all the family to enjoy . we will not be hiring a car this time so that will also save us some dollars (that will be spent in the Emporium) we cant wait and even though money is tight we have no regrets because every two years we would on holiday in florida this way we stay with style on Disney property :king:
