Bringing a DSLR

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed but I was wondering where all you slr camera users put your cameras when you got on the more thrilling rides at WDW. I was thinking of getting a small carrying bag for mine, but i wasnt sure if id be able to carry it on rides such as RnRc. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Actually, you can bring it onto a lot of the rides as long as you have it in a carrying case and can put it into the carrying pouch on the ride. ANother option is to have a non-rider hold it. Yet another option is to check it in a locker.

I find that I do NOT bring my DSLR with me when I know I am going on the rides...I throw a point and shoot in my pocket and use that. I go back later in the day, or on a return trip during my stay to shoot serious photos with my DSLR.

Most of the rides you can just make sure you have it in your bag and wrap it around your body, or under the lap restraint. Soarin' has a pouch under your seat. Expedition Everest has a pouch in front of you. Tower of Terror, you just hold your bag between your legs under the lap restraint - it really doesn't have any rough motion at all, despite the drops. The biggest problem on RNRC is the inversions - although the g-forces should keep your bag safely under your legs as long as you hold onto it tight. I don't recall at WDW, but the RNRC at Disneyland Paris has a pouch in front of you. Dinosaur has a pouch in front of you. Big Thunder Mountain isn't rough enough to worry about - keep it between your legs under your lap restraint. Unless your bag is waterproof, don't take it on Splash Mountain.

Still, your best bet is to keep your DSLR off of the inversion thrill rides.

When I brought one, I only used it on two days and used a pocket sized camera the rest of the time. I did not like using it that much for the size of it. Rather than a small bag, I would put it in a backpack. Easier to cary as it is just sits on your back and out of the way.

I place mine in it's bag, which is very tight fitting. I also have my video camera in there with it. If someone in my group is not riding then I leave it with them. If not I then place the bag in a backpack and wrap the straps of the backpack around my legs if there is no place on the ride to place it. Works pretty well so far.

This is funny. The last time I was down there. I went on Test Track and someone brough their camara on the ride. It was small it fit in the person pocket. That was the first time that I saw someone with a camara on a ride like TT.

Beware of the pouch on Dinosaur -- I lost a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses ($180 polarized fishing sunglasses) to it -- the only pair of sunglasses I've ever lost!

I lost a pair of glasses on that ride. Next time check the lost and Found. It is near the Dog Kennel at the TTC. That was were I found my glasses.

I use a "backpack" style camera bag for my D70 and the extra lenses. It's so well padded I could throw it out the top of Tower of Terror and it would be fine after it hit.

I usually just take it off my back and "step" my leg through one or both of the shoulder straps while on more vigorous rides. It aint goin anywhere.
