Breakfasts at the hotels

Just booked to go back to DLRP for a family break. Last there April 17. Prior to that breakfasts were included in the hotel prices. Fair enough Disney is wanting to save a few bucks so in ‘17 it was room only. Ok though as we took the meal package so got breakfast at the hotel as usual, just we paid for it. This time I about fell off my seat when speaking to the booking agent (I’d called as the’ve also culled hold baggage from the flights. You have to add it yourself at own cost :-/...). On completing the reservations I was advised that breakfast, through the meal plan, was only in the Park now as only the Disneyland Hotel serves breakfast?? ??? Even when on WDW trips we have always taken breakfast at the hotel then headed to a park for opening ready to play. My first queue of the day should be for pirates, not a croissant!! Having visited every year for the last 14 years, I fear this may be my last! Anyone else think Disney is starting to push their luck?

It sounds an odd thing to do for sure. I cant think of a hotel which doesn’t have some form of breakfast on offer. Cheap penny pinching like this will IMO only hurt the bottom line as more people feel ripped off

Agreed, I feel DLPR has lost its appeal. I’ve went at least twice a year for last 4 years most recent was Feb ‘18. I feel since Disney took control, money saving has been their target to make Park profitable. Cost of hotel rooms have also nearly doubled. I do not see my wife and I returning until the studio park has been expanded. I’ll just go and stay at WDW every year.

You can still get breakfast in all of the hotels. The free half board offer only includes breakfast in the parks though. You can pay a surcharge to eat in the hotels instead. The charge depends on what hotel you're staying at.

Thanks for the info. :-). If you’re right that’s good to know. Not to sound disbelieving (sorry) but do you have personal experience of this as the Disney agent was quite clear that only the Disneyland was serving breakfasts now. I do hope you’re right though, I wouldn’t mind paying a (reasonable) surcharge. My hotel will be the Sequoia Lodge if you know the prices?! Thanks!

Hi, if you don’t mind me asking, When you visited in Feb were you able to get a hotel breakfast? (Assuming you stayed on site). If not, what were the Park breakfasts like? Thanks :-)

When you say you called a booking agent - through Disney or another travel agency? Because a quick look on the Disneyland Paris website page on mealplans confirmed what @dav2205 said: if your half board meal plan is free, breakfast is offered in the Park, if not it is offered in the hotel. And if you look at your hotel's dining offers a breakfast buffet is available (at an additional charge).

Thanks for the info. It was a Disney agent so I’ve (stupidly) not dug about the website for details. The agent was French so possibly the details were lost in translation? That’s all good to know though. Thank you. :-)

I had booked golden forest so we had breakfast included. I’m not sure what the breakfasts are like as we had ours in golden forest.

Last September I stayed in Newport Bay Club and we paid for breakfast in the hotel itself. The breakfast was pretty good in my opinion! There was a good variety of options and it was a great way to start the day.
