Star Wars fan Yuri Luiz of Sao Paolo, Brazil has started a petition on Change.org to get Colin Trevorrow replaced as director of Star Wars: Episode IX with George Lucas. The film is set to be released in 2019. Lucas will be 74 then. He previously stated he wasn’t interested in working on any of the new movies.

Luiz wrote: “We have no problem with Colin Trevorrow, but he’s not the right guy to direct Star Wars Episode IX. George Lucas as director of Episode IX would be the perfect way to end this new trilogy and make an epic farewell between the father of Star Wars and the whole universe of the galaxy far, far away … ”

The petition currently has 6,491 supporters.

If Lucas knows about this, he's probably drooling with excitement over the fact that people actually want him to do another after how they bashed the prequels.

While I wouldn't mind Lucas as a creative consultant idea guy, I in no way want him to have any final say in anything star wars. Its just too bad that he seemed to only have yes men around him for the prequels.

As if Lucasfilm would ever make a hiring decision based on a petition.

I am still worried about Trevorrow as director, as Jurassic World did not impress me whatsoever.

While I did really like Jurassic world a lot, I too am not sure of Trevorrow as the director for EP IX. I knew JJ was the guy when I walked out of the first star trek re-boot so I am hoping his influence and direction stays with the next two movies.
