Male Workers Can Now Wear Braids, Females Hoop Earrings
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Walt Disney Company is loosening up its strict grooming standards for workers at its theme parks.
Under a new policy adopted last month, male park workers, for the first time, can wear braids in their hair.
Female workers can now wear hoop earrings, provided they are no larger than a dime.
The new grooming rules also allow female workers to wear open-toe and open-heel shoes and shoes with just a strap at the heel. Athletic shoes, sandals and western boots are still frowned upon. Hosiery still is a must.
Even though Walt Disney himself wore a mustache, he was a stickler when it came to the grooming of park employees. He wanted them to maintain clean-cut images
Disney officials have kept up that tradition. They didn't allow male park workers to sport mustaches until three years ago.
