Bounceback or Pin?

Hi everyone!
I am planning on making another trip to the World in July. We have gone every July, and in the past have gotten a pin which makes staying moderate or deluxe a possibility. However, with Disney saying they are not releasing as many pins, I am worried we will not get one. My question is this:

We are staying at POP in late January. If we booked a room at a moderate/deluxe now, and didn't receive a pin before then, but received a bounce back at POP, could we call and apply that discount to our reservation? Or is a bounce back different than a pin or discount, and we would need to cancel and rebook using that offer?

I know that neither are guaranteed, but I was just hoping someone could answer this question.

Thanks so much!

Bounceback cannot be applied to an existing reservation. You would have to book the bounceback while you're there and cancel your pre-existing booking.

We just returned from 9 days. There was not a bounceback offer in our room. They had the offer that they are running free dining through Sept 2011 (with a few blockout dates). Same for my sister and her family's room as well.

I would much rather have a room discount; but if one isn't offered and I'm going, I'll take free food over nothing. I really, really liked going on one trip with my "go 4 nights get 3 free" deal.

ummm - are you sure? We received a bounceback offer in April '10 (Wilderness Lodge). We applied the bounceback to our existing Nov-'10 reservation without any issues at all. Now, it's possible that the rules have changed since April of this year....
The way it was explained to me was they couldn't.

I tried once and got the exact same dates at the exact same resort, but was given a different reservation confirmation #. The CM cancelled the prior reservation while I was on the phone.

My husband called this past weekend and was inquiring about the bounceback offers. A castmember told him that they did not think Disney was doing the bounceback offers at this time:(

Am I the only one who is not enticed at all by Free Dining as a Bounceback? If I'm gonna "bounce back", I want to save money on my room.

Not alone, I'm with ya. We're not big eaters, so we far prefer the room discounts. I wouldn't plan a trip around free dining, but I do plan trips around pin codes I get for room discounts.
