Boston Marathon 2018

Just wanted to extend congratulations to all the athletes in today's Boston Marathon. (Also credit goes to all the volunteers, behind-the-scenes people, law enforcement and spectators cheering on the athletes.) Although I was at work today, I did see some of the race on live stream on the computer.

The weather conditions in the city were awful--cold, rainy and windy, but these athletes stayed with it--all 26 miles, 385 yards (42.195 km). Their dedication and talent are an inspiration.

Here are the top four:

Yuki Kawauchi (Japan) (Men's winner) Time: 2:15:58

Desiree Linden (USA) (Women's winner) Time: 2:39:54

Tatyana McFadden (USA) (Women's Wheelchair) Time: 2:04:39

Marcel Hug (Switzerland) (Men's Wheelchair) Time: 1:46:26

Yes, we used to live in the Boston area and the support for the Boston Marathon was tremendous. I was just wondering-does anyone know how the Hoyts did? Well, Ricky anyways-my understanding is that Dad no longer races.

I think the father can't run the race anymore (I read that he had back surgery). But there is another gentleman, Bryan Lyons, who runs and pushes Ricky through the entire marathon now. He's part of the Massachusetts Team Hoyt effort. So nice to see this heartwarming tradition stay alive with the help of others.

Here's a link to The Hoyt Foundation, if you're interested.
