If I were to book a room only reservation through Disney with a AAA discount for my August 08 trip and then in say June a better AP discount becomes available will they let me switch from one discount to the other or will I have to cancel and then rebook with the other discount? Just wondering because I know the AP discounts don't usually come out until a couple of months before. Thanks for your help!!

Pretty sure you'll have to cancel and re-book.

I think you will have to rebook as well. Check out mousesavers.com. They have a pretty comprehensive description of what you have to do to get the best price. They also have historical dates of when the AP and general public discounts tend to come out.

I'm lookng to do the same thing for Feb.

Good luck!

You'll be able to rebook but the amount of rooms for the AP discount seems to be dwindling. I tried to book a room at a deluxe resort about 3 months from my trip using a AP discount and was told that there was no rooms available with the discount

I do this all the time. sometimes I will call down and reserve a room at the poly, but they only have the regular rate and I will reserve it. But I will call down every few days or so and see if a AAA or AP rate become available and they will just change the rate instead of re-booking.

Just a little info on how it works. AAA is given a certain amount of room just for them. When Disney offers various specials, the allocate a certain number of rooms for that special, hence, you will always see "subject to availability" at the end of all their specials. Therefore a AAA discounted room cannot be turner into another discount, requiring the AAA discounted room to have to be cancelled. How to beat the system? Book the new special first. Once you have secured it, then cancel your AAA booking, so you don't wind up with nothing.

Yes, you can modify your reservation to take advantage of a better discount offer, based on availability of the discounted rooms on the new offer. Your deposit will remain on the reservation, and you will keep the same reservation number.

It is not recommended to cancel and rebook your reservation. If the new discount offer is not available, you may not be able to get your room back. Also it can take up to 2 full billing cycles to see your refund on your credit card statement from the old reservation.

Remember with any discount offer, there is only a limited number of rooms available at each resort for each room category for each date during the offer period. Having a room already booked does not guarantee that the discount is available, nor will it increase or decrease your ability to apply a future discount offer.
