Booking a trip with expedia

Recently i came upon a vacation plan that looked to good to be true.

It allowed me to book the hotel, park tickets, and plane tickets for the price of what the hotel room would cost me if i booked through disneyworld.com

Does anyone have anysuggestions on what i should do?

In the past I've always found better deals elsewhere, but if if Expedia has what appears to be the best deal, then I'd go with that. I've used Expedia for many other trips/destinations and they were great.

You may find better airfare times booking seperately, but Expedia is fine.

I've actually gone to a travel agent with a quote from Expedia and they matched it.

If the deal is good, there's nothing wrong with Expedia.

I totally recommend using Expedia. We used them for our last trip and could not fault them. For the price of a flight with a travel agent, we got hotel, flight and car for the same price.

The only thing on Expedia.co.uk is you cannot book WDW Resort Hotels, but you can on Expedia.com. Does anybody know why this is?

I've used Expedia twice and have been very happy. This year I am trying Kingdom Konsultants.

You can get the same deals and Pam will hook you up with your priority seating also.

I'll be using Pam next year. Since being on the boards I have only heard great things about booking with KK. The fact that she is always helping out on these forums is good enough for me. Another plug :D

The reviews are good here for Expedia.

However, I had a friend who had trouble with Orbitz. When she got to the airport, she was told that the return leg of her round trip ticket was no good.

Her only choice (if she ever wanted to sleep in her own bed again) was to buy another ticket.

as a hotelier, I will say that i H A T E Expedia...

that being said, search around a little more, I book directly through the companies whose services I use, and generally save that way... not to mention, you have much more control over your reservation than any wholesaler (ie- expedia) could even wish to offer you.

No matter how reputable they are, a third party is a third party.

If you must involve someone else, use a human travel agent.. not your computer.

I usually get my Air tickets through Travelocity or Cheaptickets. Expedia has always been a little more money for me.

As far as rooms go, I only book through the Disney Company. I have CM connections that get me 1/2 off as well but you also have to know how to ask for a room. If you check into a room on a Holiday (say July 4th), the room will be more expensive. And if you stay for several days after that, each day will be the price of the Holiday rate even though it may be cheaper if you check in AFTER the holiday.

The Reservation line won't tell you specials UNLESS you ask about them.

Yes because if the package is messed up it takes a lot longer to fix than if was booked directly through disney.

I have not used Expedia for WDW, but I have used it for other vacations. It has worked pretty well for me.

The only caveat is that you won't have a lot of flexibility with your room when you check in.

If you don't like the room you are assigend for some reason (view, location, etc.) the hotels are unwilling to help you out by changing your room since you are an "Expedia" person. The times we have complained, the front desk clerks (again non-WDW resorts) said there hands were tied because we booked through Expedia. I think this also means that Disney front desk clerks probably won't be able to give you a last minute upgrade if they can.

That is the only hangup I have found with Expedia.

For Disney, I've always been able to find a code on mousesavers that gets me the same room rate as Expedia, so I just use that to avoid the hassle mentioned above. My wife is picky about views and such, so her being unhappy with the first room assigned is usually pretty much a given.

and I will tell you why this is...

you may be paying Expedia $100/nt for that room... but the fact is, if the hotel is selling for $100 a night to everyone else, but they're only getting $41 a night from you, why should they bend over backwards and possibly sell a room at a loss.

I understand that it goes against the concept of good customer service, but hotels are businesses, and selling a product at a loss, no matter what the circumstance, is NEVER good business. In cases like this, expect a free meal/free movie rather than a room change.

I used Expedia before in the past and had a real good experience with them.

We booked a week long stay through them for hotel only for a resort on 192. When we arrived, it was late and the hotel looked like they had Animal House frats on site. The room we were assigned was on the back side of the hotel where there was a dumpster and a busy back road. The room smelled bad and there was a spider crawling on the wall bigger than a mouse.

I slept about 4 hours, my wife didn't sleep at all. We woke at 6 AM and checked out of the place. The staff at the front went to tell the manager and the manager didn't come out to try to make up for it.

Your saying, "I guess his good experience was sarcastic?!?" Nope, really!

We called Expedia about the resort and expressed our concern over the state of the hotel. They refunded all the money besides the night we stayed (downside of Expedia is pre-paying for the entire stay). I was sure glad that I had purchased the $19 insurance because it was well worth it when the room was unbearable. The reps were nice that we spoke to and said that they will have the recommended resort listing removed from the description.

For a 3-star hotel, I wasn't expecting much but I was expecting more that this place delivered. I think Expedia got my point on that and left me very satisfied.

I don't know that I would book with them again because when I go to Orlando, I am ONLY staying on site! Anywhere else, I will go to the hotel's site of deal with a travel agent.

For staying on site, why go through Expedia when Disney offers the same deal? Is it because Disney won't let you reserve on-line? Is it the LD call?
Have you checked for discounts through CRO?
