Booking a room for 2009.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how early you can book a room at Walt Disney World. For example, If I'm planning on going next January when will I be able to find out availability of room and book them? I've never planned a trip myself, because my parents have always done that but I'm trying to go next winter break with some friends and I just wanted to get a room book. I booked a trip for May of 09 last month. They took my deposit, but said that can't give me my exact total because rates will probably change between now and then. But they did let me book!

room only can be booked 499 days in advance without a guaranteed price. Packages usually come out around August for the next year

I believe that Room-Only reservations past 2008 (but within the 499 days limit) can only be made over the phone.
