Hooray - we have booked our next trip to WDW!!!! August 21 2009 - and we will be in the magic! This will be my 7th trip and there is a big change next year. Our eldest daughter is joining the Navy:eek: and won't be coming with us. We are really proud of her but it will be so strange without her. However youngest DD (14) is bringing a friend with her and she is a complete and total WDW novice!! So, I am really chuffed that we will be able to initiate her to the wonder of Disney. She is so excited and I have warned her that this is not a holiday resting and of my theme park commando tendencies:p.
We have got free dining and the girls are flying coach whilst we fly Premium Economy(Virgin). The flight was booking up really quickly.
Now I am just wondering how the crowds will compare with free dining compared to our last visit which was early August 2007 without free dining(IYSWIM).
Anyway, we are going to the happiest place on earth!!!

I LOVE Disney in August - sure, it's hot, but I love hot weather, anyway. Sure, it's a bit crowded, but people-watching is half the fun, and if you use the Fastpass system, you won't waste a lot of time in long lines.

Have a great trip!

how did you get free dining already if you don't mind me asking. we are heading down mid september and i thought you had to wait for them to decide if that was the promo they were going to run

We got free dining as an offer with Virgin as a UK booking. We are staying at POR and we get the 2 counter service meals deal. We were looking at booking direct with Disney as they had the offer on their website and when I rang Virgin for a comparison they had just been released to offer free dining. It made more sense for us to book with Virgin as they had the direct flights and we have frequent Virgin discount so we saved around $1000 on the booking plus the saving with the free dining has saved us $$$, hence the flight upgrade:D.
Hope this answers your question.

We came home on August 20 of this year. The crowds were very managable so don't worry about it at all. Any major attractions just hit first thing in the morning, especially Toy Story! It will be hot no doubt about it, but as long as you know that you'll be fine. We didn't even pack pants or sweatshirts.

Congrats! I think that August is a great time to go despite the weather. The crowds are not really a problem (there are worse times to go) and the weather just involves a supply of sun screen and some rain gear just in case. I'll probably be there in early August for a couple of weeks. Have fun!!!
