I got a dinner reservation at 4:10. We are on the QS dining plan and are going to pay out of pocket. I just looked at the menu. We really don't eat big meals at Disney. I feel weird ordering appetizers and dessert and taking up a table. Is BOG worth it? Also, do you get anything special if it's your anniversary?

Are you planning to stop by for lunch too? If so, you can get good food and tasty desserts all package in your dining plan and it's a win-win.

If you're just thinking about dinner, everything is under $30, and I believe some items are under $20. I've never not ordered an entree at a restaurant before, but I can't imagine it hasn't been done before.

I think it all really depends on if it's in your budget. Opinions vary as to if it's worth and as to which meal is better. I personally preferred dinner over lunch, but felt our appetizers were better than our entrees. Either way, it's a pretty cool setting and might be worth it just to experience it. Maybe it's because we sat in the West Wing for lunch, but I felt dinner (sat in the ballroom) was much more relaxing. I guess it just felt like fewer people were milling around during dinner...or maybe it was the beer and wine ;)

This always gets me. I don't think anyone should ever feel weird "taking up a table" while ording appetizers and desserts. Nor do I think people should look down on those who do. You know what folks, it's called Tapas and it is OK! When we do BOG for dinner it's the meat boards, soups, salads, desserts and a couple of beers. We probably spend more than the average couple does and probably enjoy the diverse selection we get to put together ourselves more than the pigeonholed entree options. I say do what makes you happy and take care of your server! Heck, last year we used an ADR at BOG just for wine, dessert and coffee in the west wing before Wishes and loved it!

Is BOG worth it?

If you've never been, YES! Will it command your repeat business, probably not.

This.

As someone who has had weight loss surgery, I've had to get used to making some very odd requests at restaurants, everything from ordering from the kid's menu, splitting an appetizer with a friend who also had the same surgery (I do this one all the time LOL) or splitting a meal with my husband, I'm used to getting all kinds of odd looks, especially when I go somewhere and don't plan to have any alcohol, and thus I don't order a drink of any kind, not even water (can't have it with my solid food, so no need to waste their time getting it for me).

And, usually, I try to tip a fair amount... typically ends up being about 40% instead of 20% if my bill is super small and I still get good service. It's not the server's fault if I can't eat as much as everyone else.

Also, I would think that appetizers and deserts could end up being as much combined as an entrée at most restaurants. In what way is that tying up a table?

Thank you everyone! I felt weird taking a table (and not ordering an entree) since it's so hard to get a reservation. I came across an opening a few weeks ago. My child & I share QS meals & it doesn't bother me at those places. So I will enjoy BOG. :)

I would definitely go, we went and I only had coffee while my son just had fries, he and his friend so wanted to go and his friend just got a sandwich. It's a wonderful atmosphere and a lot of fun.

It's good that you are being considerate of others. But you played by the rules and scored a reservation. It doesn't matter what you order. You're entitled to your table. Just be sure to take care of the wait staff when you go.

For what WDW costs, guests should never feel guilty about doing what they want to do.

Yes it is well worth it! It is one of the best ts oop values on property. Have one of the lighter meals or just an appy and/or desert and maybe a glass of wine to celebrate.

Getting a reservation was by accident. I trying to figure out how the My Disney app worked. I picked the date were at the MK and 4:10 came up. I was shocked!

That's lucky.

I have been checking every day for the last week and a half or so. Usually multiple times a day. Not even a whif of BOG. Not even at odd hours.

Next thing I know, I'm posting a comment here about how the only thing I have left to line up is BOG, but I don't think there's that much hope. I decide to check immediately after I post the comment. And BAM! There it is. At 5:30 which is a pretty reasonable hour for dinner. Could not believe my eyes. Even after I booked it, I went back several times to make sure it was still there, it was for the right date and the right number of people, etc.

Anyway, enjoy. It's your vacation.

IMHO, it is completely worth it! We went for DBF's birthday back in October and got a special plate off The Grey Stuff. Delicious! (I'm not going to do the line about "asking the dishes"....unless that counts:rolleyes:) Just make sure to note it on your reservation before you go. (Call WDW Dine and they will note it.)

I did the same thing after I booked dinner. I was so afraid my reservation would disappear. :)

Worth it at least once in your life. Lunch for us. Only order what you want to eat and think you will eat. It is unlikely anyone else will notice and/or care. If they do, they can pay for your meal.
