Boat service from OKW to D Springs

Anyone know if boat service has returned from OKW? We had never stayed here but were moved there when our resort was closed due to the pandemic, and fell in love with the place. Planning on making plans soon for a 2021 stay, and would be willing to pay the extra $ if the boat service has returned.

No it hasn’t. I don’t think it will until the Port Orleans resorts are open. None of the boats on the river are running and I suspect costs are shared out.

Not sure that makes sense since they use different boats and routes for POR and OKW or SSR. I hope we see it again by summer. Was hoping since they are expanding some bus service. I imagine the cost with distancing is too high for the length of time it takes?

I know the routes are different, but I thought the maintenance and running costs of the boats might be shared between the four resorts, maybe. I’m guessing though. I just don’t see OKW owners paying the full cost of the boats from dues, but then I’m not an owner there.

They started running the Friendship boats between DHS and the IG as more of the resorts opened up. Wasn’t for park to park access, so it was solely for resort to park access. What else could be holding up the OKW route? Occupancy perhaps I guess.

Occupancy is my guess. Not enough space for people or how long the ride is. I assume OKW pays their costs separately in the transportation fees. Much like the buses. Our fees for transportation grew quite a lot for next year.

Just realised something else stopping the boats running. Security at the boat docks would be needed for temperature checks. Not sure why I didn’t think of this before.
