Boardwalks - Outside of Disney

We may have to vacate the Disney property for a day or two, and I am looking for something interesting to do. I am intrigued with some of the more natural Florida landscape - anyone know of any good parks in the area, particularly ones that might have a boardwalk and/or river/spring?

Not sure about those things for you, but if you're looking for just touristy things, Universal is worth visiting despite what so many say on here say about it. I've been several times in the last few months and have a great time each visit.

If you don't mind the hour-hour 1/2 drive, there is the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. They have serveral hiking areas and boardwalks out into the coastal marshes. They also have a driving trail around the whole complexe called the Black Point Wildlife Drive.

There's a beach just north of Clearwater, in Dunedin, called Honeymoon Island state park. You can take a boat out to Caledesi from there for a picnic.

I heard it was rated the 2nd best beach in the US or world. (Though, that's where I'm from, so I also have a bias towards it...) It's never as crowded as Clearwater or St. Pete, and it's like $5 for a car full of people.
