Hi everyone I will be staying at the boardwalk villas for the first time come jan.2014. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or secrets that I should know about. We normally stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks

Walking to EPCOT and DHS is very convenient. The Big River Grill has better food than ESPN Zone. (They also have their own microbrew). Walking over to the Hess can be cheaper than the on-site grocery. (For water and such.) Enjoy the evening street performers on the BoardWalk.

The walk to the elevator can be pretty long. If you've got a boardwalk view, don't be afraid to take the stairs down. They let you out in unusual spots sometimes.
The street performers are a lot of fun.
Pack a sweater/something warmish. You can get a bit if a breeze over the water, especially in January.
Have a great trip!

The Hess is great. I bought beer for my room from here. Very short walk.

Don't pay for air hockey or video games. In community hall, there is free air hockey and a few video games. The packman machine will try to tell you that you need money. I discovered last January that all you have to do is hit start. If you want the full arcade experience, you are free to use the one at Beach Club. It's a short walk and they give prizes. The Contemporary one is the best on property IMO though.

There's a stairway that leads you out to the walkway to studios. Use that once you figure out exactly how to get there. It's down the hall on the right side of the quiet pool if you were looking at the quiet pool from the right side. Once you're down, it's not a far walk at all to DHS.

If I think of something else, I'll let you know.

We typically stay at WL but stayed at the Boardwalk last May when my DD ran the 5k in Animal Kingdom. Overall we liked our stay at Boardwalk, but we truly missed WL. Liked the convenient transportation to EPCOT and the Studios, but getting to MK via bus was slow. Really missed the boat transportation to MK from WL. And I like the hours of Roaring Fork better than Boardwalk Bakery and not having to go out in the rain to refill my drink cup. One evening I asked for a refill at the bar in the lobby after the Bakery was closed and the bartender had some attitude. Guess it was because I wasn't a "paying customer". Be sure to take some time to enjoy the Boardwalk. The Bakery does have some really good snack options too.

We got invited to go on a trip in October with step-son and family and I was so happy to hear that they were staying at WL.

I figured the Wilderness Lodge was gonna be tough to beat. We have stayed there 5 times and figured we would switch it up and try something new. Hopefully we like it..........;)

Please let us know how you like it there. We are looking at staying at the Board Walk Villa's when we go in 2015. We've only been to WDW once and while we loved our stay at Saratoga we want to try different places each time we go. So I love hearing about others experiences.

Heading for the great escape.
Thought they were a bit sterile and cold atmosphere wise. The rooms are lovely but most amenities are down on the Boardwalk itself. The walk to bothparks is nice, and taking the tradesmans entrance to the Villas pool saves walking all the way round to the elevators if you are the other end of the building. We went for a dip in the pool every night after park closing it was deserted and a nice way to end the day with the girls.
