Boardwalk Villas

I am going to make my reservations for the Boardwalk tonight (so excited :D), and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on room requests I should make. I will be booking a 2 bedroom lock off villa. I would like to be centrally located. Also, if anyone has any other helpful Boardwalk advice I will happily accept as this will be our first time staying there.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have only been there once and am booked again for September. I had a Boarwalk view the first time and liked it part of the time, hated it part of the time. Loved to be able to look out on the Boardwalk and see the goings on. Hated the fact that the people below me thought it would be a perfect thing to light up cigars on the balcony. But the Boardwalk view is really great. My room was also at the far end of the Villas - I loved it as I was more towards the quiet end of the Boardwalk, but still had the great views. The negative was there was a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng walk from the elevator to the room. I love to walk, so no problem for me, but for some of my friends were tuckered by the end of a long day and the walk seemed torture.

For the fall, I booked the Garden view - couldn't get the Boardwalk this time around, but my friends who have been there many times say it is the best deal....

Not sure what advice I can give - it is just a great place and you will have a fantastic vacation...If I think of anything will post again!

We are definitely looking to have a room with less walking, as my mother will be joining us, so I will let Disney know we need a room near the elevator.

Thank you. We won't be going till Jan/Feb, but I am really looking forward to it. Being at the Boardwalk will be so convenient, especially with the kids.

Like the saying goes, the most important things in real estate are location, location, location! So close to Epcot and HS (I walk to HS, but with mom you might want to take the boats) and there is so much to do after the parks close on the Boardwalk. I love the performers....always race to see them!

I've stayed at the Swan and Dolphin so I've spent some time on the Boardwalk. I have yet to catch any of the performers though. I will certainly look in to that.

Thanks again!

Thanks in advance for the help.

I am a DVC member and I have stayed at the BWV twice now, with the most recent trip being June 5-12th in a studio, pool view (that view is billed either garden or pool). Here's what my family and I learned:

View:
-Glad we saved the points and booked a garden/pool view over a Boardwalk view, because honestly, we used our balcony twice. Someday, when our DD's are older, we might book a BW view...but the nightlife sounds and odors will keep us from booking that view for now.

Elevator issue:
-Even with our resort operating at 100% capacity, we rarely waited more than 3 min. for an elevator (which we needed to get our double stroller down to the boardwalk). There is a bank of elevators (3 elevators to be exact) located to the right of the lobby that service the villas. There is also a single elevator to the left of the lobby, near the Belle Vue Lounge (another place to get your refillable mugs filled BTW).

Room requests:
-If you would like to take the elevator almost entirely out of the equation, request a "lower level room" (which I did 30 days out at Online Check-In). Not always guaranteed, but you could call a day before arrival and have it noted on your reservation. However, if having your room ready upon arrival is your first priority, be ready to forfeit some of your other room requests.
-Be prepared to walk to your room, no matter what request you put in.

The BWV are nice and incredibly convenient to DHS and EP (we would always walk to both)! Busses service MK, AK, DTD, and the water parks (although 1 of them will be closed that time of year). However, busses are shared between Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin resorts, making for a longer bus ride and sometimes a very crowded one at that. Also, there is no dedicated pavilion for the above stops...in the morning, an indiscriminate line will form beginning at where the bus actually opens its doors and will then snake back toward the ramp, no matter what bus the guests are waiting for.

The BW Bakery opens at 6 a.m. for those early risers. And, there's a good place to get pizza down on the boardwalk as well (if you're on the DDP, a whole pizza pie, 2 drinks and 2 desserts will only cost you 2 QS points!!) and is open pretty late. The boardwalk really comes to life after 6 p.m., with more kiosks opening and performers entertaining!

In your "Welcome Home" packet, be sure to check the resort activity guide!

The villa's pool is typically less crowded than the main pool.

The gift shop off the lobby is open earlier than the big one on the boardwalk, BUT it also closes earlier than the one on the boardwalk.

Enjoy your stay!!

Thank you! This info is all a great help.

We will also have a double stroller, so I will request a lowest level room near elevator. Crossing my fingers! I will definitely be on the look out for the resort activities for the kiddos, although I think they may be too young. They will be 2 when we go in Jan.
